Mine's a post-rock band from Texas

Mine is the character "343 Guilty Spark" from the Halo videogame series.

Guilty Spark is an airborne roughly-sperical robotic AI created by an ancient advanced civilization to maintain Installation 04 in the games.

My new avatar is a map of (the post-1974) county of Lancashire.

Mine is of Hexadecimal, the character I'm obsessed with from the show I'm obsessed with, which is ReBoot. I know it says "International Hex Month" on it, and that was over a year ago, but I just like the picture of her. It's so hard to find pictures of her in sprite form (she was in virus form until season 4), and it's a very pretty picture of her.

Why did I decide on this? Lol, it was just too ill to pass up (and yeah, its not about her looks, its about the context).

Ok, I might have been assuming too much about people seeing the movie its from or remembering it if they have.

Here's my intentionality behind it. It's a scene about maybe two minutes from the end of Resident Evil Apocalypse a little bit after Milla was slung off the helicopter and had rebar of something shot through her stomache. Umbrella associates found her body, put her in some kind of healing tank like what they had in Starship Troopers, and when she got out she pieced up a whole bunch of lab technicians pretty good. At this point she starts walking down a hall and a security guard who was in the observation keosk with about 30 different camera screens of the building sees her walking up and starts radioing for immediate back up. All of a sudden every camera goes to her, he's like "WTF!!?" and from there she just stares into the camera from every angle (ie the footage from my avatar) and pretty much turns his head into a bloody mess just by staring at him.

The idea of having a scene like that is when you see it in it's context your like "Woah, that's hard as hell". What I was doing was kinda like what you see with some people on other forums probably where they might have a gif of Samara in the last part of The Ring where she's comming up to Naomi Watt's friend and shows her face to him or if you had a jpg of Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta ready to blast up the guys who took Marcello Wallace's soul in pulp fiction. It's a moment-of-doom sample looped over and over that and what made me chuckle in terms of doing it was its directed at the person who's looking at the avatar as if they were the character about to die, get shot down, or whatever (ie. with this one your that security guard looking into the camera). Might sound a little twisted or over intense but that's just me - I kinda live for that manic/dysphoric/give-you-evil-chills thing in music and I figured why not bring that same kind of punch to an avatar

As for anyone who just wants to look at this as a cute bit of erotica though that's fine, I'm not gonna hate you but still I'd rather you know what I meant by it.

There's no real mystery to my new av...except why ImageShack won't link anything from my computer properly and I'm stuck with all that crap around it. In any case I don't want to change it because it's one of the few images I've got that will load at all.

I don't remember exactly where I found this, but I first saw the picture ten years ago when my then-local football club had it hanging up behind the bar. I thought it was hysterically funny...especially when the club president, manning the bar, would pick up on someone's conversation, yell OI!! ! and point to it. You know, suburban Australia at it's best...
