Dylan Thomas used to describe it well.

It has an interesting old castle. It has some lovely old buildings. There is a cute little river flowing to the sea. There are nice coastal walks. One can walk to see Dylans old writing shed and the boathouse.
A lovely place.

There is the remains of a village near here which was hit by the 1607 tsunami.

Much higher then 2000. Those figures were not the whole picture. In those days many of the areas were not recorded as they had been wiped out.

I'm with you on the Surrey thing, lived in Surrey all my life. People seem to think it's in London, but it has more woodland, more trees than any other county, hills, villages, country lanes....

Pity the damn house prices are so high, but that's just a measure of how many people want to live here.

Anyway, welcome to here, from Guildford (Surrey). :D

I feel awful that the evil spamming lady derailed this thread.

Ms. Juliette, do you have any more insight on Surrey?

Thanks, Fury. Yes, it’s a beautiful part of the country. I’m very familiar with Guildford. I used to go to the Leisure Centre there, and am familiar with the High Street. I was very fortunate when buying here, as house prices have since doubled. I took a drive out to the Isle of Thanet last Sunday for the first time. Stumbled upon a castle that’s just gone on the market ... or at least, “part of one”. Seriously, it’s quite cheap for what it is ...
No chain ... though for now, I’ll pass ... Kingsgate Castle

Thanks for the welcome. Lovely to “meet” you :).
