I'm not sure if anyone's still posting on this thread. I'm a Christian. I don't have AS. I'd like to know how Aspie Christians (is this the term??) look at their faith and God? My perspective on AS is limited to interactions with a close friend. To him, it's unimaginable to believe in the existence of any sort of God. Is this a common thing for people diagnosed with AS (I suppose because of analytic thinking)? How do you overcome that doubt and believe?

@eddieJ

Although I have been brought up in a Christian home. I find the concept of God more real than evolution or other theories that people invent. I also subscribe to the Creation Magazine which finds and publishes evidence for creation as well as a lot of other interesting articles.
I find though that being an 'Aspie Christian' I have been able to reason to myself why the existence of a God is necessary, based on my world view. What I struggle with though is connecting emotionally with God :( It almost seems as though we are like atoms, the more logically prove God to ourselves ( Know the Position ) the less we can connect with him on an emotional level ( Know the Energy of the electron ).
Which was the reason for having a look at this form. To see if there were any Aspie Christians who were connected with God on a deeper level.

Anyway sorry about the ramble.
Hope this helps.

- Soulwrite

If I remember correctly, the difference depends on which side of the pond you are on. If you are an American then it Episcopalian and if you are English then its Anglican. Same belief, different name.

Will I really need to fight to hear His voice until I get used to 'tunning in'??

I know how you feel, Soulwrite. I too seem to have a have a hard time connecting on an “emotional” level as well. I believe in the one true God, and cannot see this world in any other way. But, I feel as if I God is just hanging out there watching me but not truly being “there” for me. That is why it is so frustrating when Christians try to minimize being single by telling me, “As long as you have God you are not alone.”

Christian since I was 10. Self-diagnosed Aspie. Tends to run in the family.

Hey all, new to this site, and this subject caught my eye...

I grew up with firmly-held-to christianity, as an intensely personal conviction. I have entered a questioning state, as part of my "growing up" process.

Does it makes sense to anyone (or can you personally relate) to the possibel fact that Christian beliefs / experiences (church, parenting, etc.) could be misinterpreted or complicated by one having Asperger's? This has been my experience, for so many reasons. I'm willing to go into more detail, I just wanted to throw this out there in case it was a topic of interest to some... and if not, I'll shut up or post somewhere else, lol! :P

Yes their is. I am a christian, but I was diagnosed PDD-NOS and right now is considered an Aspie.

Similar story here and I am also a Christian.

I am an imperfect follower of Christ but he makes me whole! :D 2 Corinthians 5:17

I suppose I consider myself a Christian of indeterminate denomination and quasi-nonconformist roots. Welcome to WP! :)

Me! I'm a member of the UCC. You may know us because we've run ads on TV off and on for a few years.
