 Great avatar GoatOnFire. I'll miss it if it's indeed gone soon.

Can anyone guess the origin of my avatar? Want a hint? I've already given you 2 clues.

It looks like Darth Vader, yes?

I'm not sure I want to know how my avatar is perceived...rather boring, I expect. I'm not very interesting.

It does kind of, but that's not where it came from. It's a little more obscure than that. I'm curious to see if anyone figures it out (be it someone with a shared interest or just a good detective).

The clues are 2 of the words in the last line of my original post.

As an example, and not to pick on her, every time SilverProteus' avatar of Sweeny Todd pops up I get really uncomfortable and imagine that I'm in for reading a nasty, judgmental diatribe. And then the message is "Welcome to WP! I hate feeling this way, :? and wonder if others have the same reaction to avatars.

You don't like Sweeny, Zonder?

It could be worse. How about an avatar depicting Samara from "The Ring" (esp. an animated GIF of that very disturbing thing she did at the end of the movie)?

For those who have been around WP awhile, has anyone done an avatar like that before? That would be a little too creepy even for me.

I have no clue what your clues are, but to me your avatar look like the Witch king of Angmar.

I'm not sure that I understand the clues, but I think it is Sauron, from Lord of the Rings, when he had a human form, but after he was able to become a creature of beauty.

I freak out when I see these cute little kitty avatars and then I see them post something nasty or unlike a sweet kitty's disposition. Why is that sweet looking kitty mad at me.

This is funny, I thought both Hale Bopp and Silver Proteus were guys. Took me a while to figure that out. I find the Sweeney Todd comical with his/her responses, I don't know if it's the avatar or the responses. It's like talking to Sweeney Todd.

My point, exactly, MissConstrue for starting this topic. It is interesting, in a disconcerting kind of way, to have a visual preconception of people because of the image they choose to represent themselves. Then, what they say in their posts doesn't match my visual preconceptions. That is probably because I have a strong visual aspect in my thinking, although I don't "think in pictures."

Your avatar looks quite a bit like you (I saw a photo or two that you posted), and gives off a capable, action-figure vibe. Not a bad impression.

Those are both good guesses. It does resemble a Ringwraith. Hadn't thought of that before. Nevertheless, this artwork came from a different media source--certainly Tolkien-inspired but separate from his literary works.

I had stated before: "The clues are 2 of the words in the last line of my original post" in reference to the line: "Can anyone guess the origin of my avatar? Want a hint? I've already given you 2 clues."

The specific clues are the words "origin" and "avatar".

Thanx Zonder, I thought about changing the avatar and then thought, no b/c ppl change theirs a lot. If someone does come up with the same avatar I'm using, then I'll change it. I'm a visual person, so when I see an avatar I remember it easier than just a name. I've never been that good at names. Yes, I luv comic books but have kept it in the closet, the avatar reminds me of something out of a comic book. I've always loved the idea of living fearlessly.

I've gotten divided responses on my avatar...some people love it and others loathe it.

Well, you can't please everybody. ;)

SilverProteus, I love your avatar! :D Sweeney Todd is one of my favourite films, and so the vibe I get off yours is simply that of rather brilliant taste. ^-^ I'd love to know what people must think of my avatar, though... ;^^

I have no idea, how can it be inspired by Tolkien but not connected to his literary works? It's not Satan, is it?

Thanks! :D

I get a sense of nostalgia when I see your avatar, tantopat. I watched that movie so many times when I was a child.
