Age: 20

Hobbies and Interests: Photography, sea-going transport/cargo ships (esp. liquid gas), philosophy, biochemistry, aviation.

Why are you here? Because it sure as hell beats what I am supposed to do in terms of being enjoyable.

Favorite subjects: Biology, maths, physics, chemistry

Year/Grade: Eh?

Favorite music: Music overloads me very quickly, unless I listen to it and do nothing else. Which, funnnily, is something I can't afford timewise. In the few rare moments I listen to music, it's usually classical.

Books: Heh... Jane's stuff about ships, Dune, All The King's Men

TV shows/Movies: Nah.

Instrument: Neither.

Do you like sports? Watching them is boring, playing them requires coordination.

Family: Two loving parents distinctly annoyed by their misfit son.

What is your first name? Brent

Age: 33

Location: The mall-and-sprawl Murdoch newspaper monopoly in the sub-tropics known as Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Hobbies and Interests: Music (eclectic range of stuff, but all tied together by being exciting and stimulating), reading (usually non-fiction), public transport systems, bizarre humour (esp. The Far Side), good food (esp. gourmet pizza), the odd trip interstate

Why are you here? To converse with fellow Aspies

When were you diagnosed? 2 June 2003

Favorite subjects: In school? Music

Year/Grade: Well out of school

Favorite music: Hmmm, I'll try to keep my list short... Sparks (England-based period), early Roxy Music, Bowie, Magazine, Buzzcocks, Pixies, Nirvana, Madness, The Smiths, XTC, Blur, John Cale's Paris 1919 album, King Crimson's debut, conversely the 1st album by The Damned, Bach organ works, Bach's Art of Fugue, Schubert symphonies, Mozart, Nick Drake, Dresden Dolls, Queens of the Stone Age, Franz Ferdinand... did I say keep the list short? Whoops!

Books: Asperger's Syndrome - Tony Attwood; Martian in the Playground - Clare Sainsbury; Overcoming Automobile Dependence - Kenworthy/Newman; A Very Public Solution - Paul Mees; Affluenza - John de Graaf (sp?) et al; Brisway street directory :)

TV shows/Movies: Movies? Macolm, Pleasantville, The First Time I was Twenty (French); TV shows: Monkey Dust, Spicks 'n' Specks, RocKwiz, The New Inventors, Einstein Factor, Wallace & Gromit, Rex the Runt, Creature Comforts, Queen Kat Carmel & St Jude, Rage (depending on guest programmer)

Instrument: I can play a guitar to a basic extent (the main open chords), but prefer keyboards - they're more logical! Wouldn't mind having a piano, Hammond organ and Mellotron to muck around on.

Do you like sports? Nope

Family: Mother and 30-y.o. sister, who also live in SE Queensland

Clothing: Simple, and modern without being trendy - shirt, jeans and Doc Martens, usually

How did you find this website? Word of mouth

What is your first name? Anne

Age: 22

Location: California

Hobbies and Interests: Writing, theatre, art, video games, listening to music, D&D

Why are you here? Asperger's

When were you diagnosed? A year or two ago. Before that I was diagnosed as having OCD and ADD.

Favorite subjects: DRAMA! English, psychology(/sociology), history.

Year/Grade: I'm in college, though I'm not progressing through it with a clear goal of graduation so much as I'm enjoying the atmosphere and taking classes which interest me.

Favorite music: I have *incredibly* varied musical tastes. New stuff, old stuff, hard stuff, soft stuff. Rock, opera, rock opera *grin*-- even the odd polka! Right now I'm listening to 'Boy Meets Boy' (an old off-broadway musical)

Books: Good Omens (my hands-down favourite). Too many to list all of them, but I also love The Hitchhiker's Trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed non-fiction book 'Roots of Desire' (about red hair, both social stigma and genetics), Stephen King's 'Cell' and 'Desperation', and Stephen Fry's 'Making History' and 'Moab is My Washpot' (autobiography), and I'm currently ravenously enjoying 'Shadow of the Wind' . I'm totally in love with Oscar Wilde.

TV shows/Movies: This should be two seperate questions. On TV, I'm smitten with Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (having been a West Wing-nut), Bones, House, Monk, Psych, the new Doctor Who, Jeapordy!, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report...

Instrument: None.

Do you like sports? If so, which ones?: Martial arts, fencing. I enjoy watching gymnastics, ice skating, diving, and on rare occasion, tennis.

Family: My dad and brother also have Asperger's, my mom and sister don't have anything-- although my mom is a school psychologist specialising in the autism spectrum, and it was her reading about Asperger's Syndrome that got us correctly diagnosed after so long. We also have two cats. Montgomery (my baby) is fluffy, grey and white, and exhibits a lot of Aspie tendencies. Lego is black, short-haired, and seems a little more autistic.

Clothing: A lot of black. I only own one pair of pants I can't sleep in if necessary. I usually dress for comfort, and I spent most of my life ignoring or disliking my personal appearance, but now that I'm more comfortable with myself, I sometimes like to look nice. I have an eclectic personal style, though.

How did you find this website? Searching for Aspie communities.

Job: I'm a writer. So far I haven't published anything (I'll have a poem published pretty soon, though, even though I rarely dabble in poetry-- it's easier to get a poem out because it doesn't take as much time/effort/money). I've also had three one-act plays produced at my college.

Plans for the future? I don't really have plans so much as vaguely hoped for occurences.

Any comments? I think everything's been covered...

=^_^=

What is your first name? Amelia

Age: 23

Location: Arkansas/Kansas/Unreality

Hobbies and Interests: Writing, painting, art, martial arts, rats, rabbits, psychology, dream interpretation, autism, the alternate world (called "Fantastica" by Michael Ende in his book The Neverending Story), biology, reality (which is mysterious to me).

Why are you here? To better understand my autistic-like traits, and to meet others who also have them.

When were you diagnosed? I was unofficially diagnosed by a therapist when I was 17: Asperger's Syndrome.

Favorite Music: Pantera, NIN, Tool, Nightwish, old Metallica, Leave's Eyes, Alice in Chains, Rise Against, The Sneaker Pimp's "Six Underground", The Cranberries, Ozzy Osbourne, etc.

Books: The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, any book by Joyce Carol Oates, Diary by Chuck Palaniuk, Choke by Chuck Palaniuk, The Cosmic Puppets by Phillip K. Dick, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by (duh) J.R. Tolkien, An Invisible Sign of my Own by Aimee Bender, The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut.

T.V. Shows: Invader Zim! Anime: Fruits Basket, Azumanga Daioh, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Twelve Kingdoms, FLCL, Bleach (although I haven't seen much of it), Saiyuki, Scryed, X, Ninja Scroll

Movies: The Neverending Story (first one), UHF, Carnival of Souls, Smoke Signals, Clerks, Spaceballs, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Whisper of the Heart, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Slackers, Run Lola Run, Saved!, Office Space

Instrument: Um. Maybe my farts? Burps?

Do you like sports? I abhor sports. I cannot play them, nor do I enjoy playing them. The only time I'll watch them is if the Phoenix Suns are playing basketball. (I have a thing for Steve Nash.) I do practice the martial art known as Tiger-Crane Kenpo Karate, but I don't consider it a sport. I don't consider any martial art a sport.

Family: I was an only child and my parents divorced when I was 11. I acquired a stepdad and two stepbrothers at age 13, and started living with my biological father around my 14th birthday. I am not married or engaged. My current family is my live-in boyfriend, three rats, and one parakeet.

Clothing: I have an eclectic taste in clothes. I like colorful outfits that have unusual images on them or that have unique cuts. Sometimes my clothes just look "normal", but I do try to find clothes that accentuate my assets. The way I am with clothes makes me seem more NT than I am. In the summer I like to wear dresses with combat boots, and I have an affinity for skirts. I have Tripp pants from Hot Topic with chains hanging off of them, and people tend to like those. I went through a phase where I refused to wear jeans for some reason, and just wore "slacks" and Tripp pants. Recently, I've been getting shoes other than combat boots, such as stilloetto boots and girly little sandles. (But I wear a size 10).

How did you find this website: The almighty deity, Google.

Job: Community Support Specialist for two boys with autism.

Plans for Future: Move back to home town and pursue my Master's in Clinical Psycholgoy.

What is your first name? Andy.

Age: 21.

Location: California

Hobbies and Interests: Biochemistry, physics, some math and computer science

Why are you here? I have never been a member of any community of people on the spectrum, and I have noticed that there are some ways in which I differ from most other people I know, so I wanted to see if any others here are the same way.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Sometime in elementary school, I don't remember exactly when.

Year/Grade: In my final undergraduate year in college, plan to begin grad school next fall.

Favorite music: Rap/hip-hop, dance/rave music, some other popular songs.

Books: Several by Michael Crichton, The Crying of Lot 49 (Thomas Pynchon), though there are a bunch more that I have enjoyed.

TV shows/Movies: I don't watch TV, and rarely go to the movies.

Do you like sports? Not much. I have watched most of the home games of my college's football team, but other than that I don't watch much.

Family: I'm an only child.

Clothing: Anything comfortable--comfort comes first and style second.

How did you find this website? I followed a series of links from a Wikipedia page having to do with some autistic spectrum disorder.

Job: As I said, I'm a student now.

Plans for the future? Go to grad school and then do scientific research.

Any comments? Not really.
