Any comments?
I've been wearing an NT mask my entire life. I'm tired of it, but I don't know how to just be me. I have no clue who me is. In the search for help I found there is literally nothing available to adults with AS, so I created a myspace page for Asperger Adults, in hopes to somehow raise awareness that it's not just a childhood disorder.
I don't know what I'm going to do with it at this point. But I'm amazed to find out how many people are out there who are really just looking for the same answers I am.
Maybe one day, someone will listen.

New to this site today, or is it yesterday now? Spent so much time on this since I found it that I think I might be adicted already!

First Name: Robin

Age: Thirty lots

Location: Southern England

Hobbies / Interests: geneaology & family history; science fiction (reading & watching); fantasy (esp Terry Pratchett); environment & nature

Why am I here? Spent years feeling isolated, and thought it was about time to find people of a like mind

Diagnosis: still need a full proper diagnosis, but am pretty convinced. I have known I was different from being 6 or 7 and tracked down AS as a possible cause in my late teens

Favourite subjects: science especially chemistry

Favourite music: very broad, though I was particularly into the Indie scene in my late teens. Now I'm turning into an old fogie and listen to anything.

Books: Science fiction, fantasy

TV / Films: same again, but I also love wide range of movies. Escapism of any type gets me away from the real world!

Sport: Definitely NOT team sports. Don't mind individual sports though (esp badminton)

Instrument: voice only; can't read music to save my life and most instruments are too involved for me

Clothes: have no dress sense whatsoever, hence I've given in and just wear what I feel comfortable in

Found website surfing for sites on Aspergers

Job: work for a university & have done for many years now.

Plans for the future: surviving to retirement at which point I can get away from the NT world and leave them to it.

Comments: this site is a real revelation to me. I never thought I would ever be a poster to websites, but I feel quite at home here.

What is your name? Alexander

Age: 25

Location: St Andrews, north east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Hobbies: Chess, reading; Interests: History, literature, biology,

Why are you here: Having known that I had Asperger's Syndrome for some time, some on line research turned up a reference to Wrong Planet and I was curious.

When were you diagnosed? About the age of four years. I did not know about it until about twelve.

Favourite subjects: History, languages (so far formally Italian (primary shool) Bahasa Indonesia (years seven to ten of secondary school, after which it clashed with the year twelve history I did in year eleven - History of Revolutions (French and Russian)) Classical Greek (two units in the first year in my Bachelor of Arts, though my Major was in History) and Koine or New Testament Greek (in the Master of Divinity I am currently doing). I also have rudiments of other languages). Literature, biology (years eleven and twelve, with some of my earlier science lessons) and to some extent geology, physics and chemistry (I have not formally studied these outside of Science lessons).

Favourite music: Fairly diverse. I like some Mediaeval, (Gregorian chants) Baroque and Classical (Tchaikovski's "Slave march," Lizst's "Hungarian Rhapsody,") works, as well as some more recent works (Beatles' "All the lonely People" Bob Dylan (mainly earlier works) Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence ," some Counting Crows (especially "Anna Begins").

Books: Historical novels, (Rosemary Sutcliffe, Ellis Peters, Suysanna Gregory, Colleen McCullough (Master of Rome series) fantasy novels (J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Ursula le Guin, Raymond E. Feist, Tad Williams, Terry Goodkind) and some science fiction, (as far as books go only C. S. Lewis' Cosmic Trilogy and Frank Herbert's "Dune" spring to mind, though more science fiction in some of the other media) as well as assorted non-fiction, particularly history. Also many of the ninteenth century classics, (in some cases earlier) though since my younger days this has been less frequent. World Mythology.

Television: Period dramas (vague and diverse I know but I have already included more detail than is wise; examples are Hornblower, the Scarlet Pimpernel, our Mutual Friend, Martin Chuzzzlewit Barchester Chronicles and the Way We live Now - many here also belong in the above section) documentaries on history or biology, Doctor Who, Stargate (yes I know there are some serious flaws, particularly how modern English is so widespread and the use of languages like Goa'ould and Ancient so inconsistent, a problem skirted in Doctor Who and Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but they made some effort - especially in the movie although not a par with Tolkien's linguistic creations)

Movies: The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, the Lord of the Rings films, The Man in the Iron Mask, Pan's Labyrinth.

Instrument: Voice and piano.

Do you like sports? No.

Family: a mother, a father, two brothers (one older one younger) no sister, no wife, a few aunts and uncles, several cousins and some second cousins. No living grandparent.

How did you find this website? See "why are you here?"

Occupation: Student

Clothing: Checked flannel shirts and velveteens/chords and sometimes a woolen jumper in winter, a cooler (literally, not colloquially) shirt and white or pale trousers very seldom shorts in summer. Occasionally a white shirt, a black jacket and black trousers for formal occasions.

Plans for the Future: Difficult to forsee. Continue with my studies, do more to be of some benefit to others, hopefully find someone to love (though I did used to want to be a monk as a child, can quite happily enjoy much of my time alone and have a number of good friends).

Any comments: Delighted to make your acquaintances. It is comforting to know that there are others with similar interests and problems.
