Questions about you
What is your first name? Erik
Age: 23
Location: "Suburban" Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA)
Hobbies and Interests: Computers, music: listening & "DJing", playing/watching sports, Golden Tee, GOD, Wrong Planet, etc.
Why are you here? I have Asperger's and I enjoy learning about other's diabilities. I have many friends in "real life" that are
disabled...
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Age 3, I think... I know for sure that I have been diagnosed!
Favorite subjects: In school?? Let's see...probably Social Studies (History) and Phy Ed.
Year/Grade: Graduated from High School in 2002...Technical College in 2004
Favorite music: Electronic (Dance/Trance/Techno/Drum & Bass/Ambient)
Books: Reading is not my forte!
TV shows/Movies: TV: Not a TV person! Movies: Action
Instrument: I can operate a turntable... I HATE hip-hop, so I don't do any "scratching"!
Do you like sports? Sure! -- I play mainly tennis, basketball, mini golf, bowling
Family: Mom, Dad, Brother, Cat, Grandparents, Friends from "Wrong Planet"
Clothing: Whatever...EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING: dresses, kilts, spandex, "girly" clothes.
How did you find this website?Google was my "secret weapon"
Job: Still looking...would hope to find a job with computers
Plans for the future? I would like to move out SOON and have a aspie roomate or someone with a similar disability.
Any comments? I once went over to a friends house to eat and the food just was no good! The macaroni was soggy, the peas were mushed, and the chicken tasted like wood! So I tried to play it off like I thought I could by saying that I was full. Then my friend told his mom, "Erik's just being polite, he's not finished, uh uh, that's bull!"
So my heart started pumping and I thought of a lie and I said that I already ate. My friend said, "Man, there's plenty of food!"
so I pile some more on my plate.
While the stinky food was steaming, my mind started to dreaming of the moment that it was time to leave. Then I looked at my plate and my chicken was slowly rotting into something that looked like cheese! So I said, "That's it; I got to leave this place, I don't care what these people think! I'm just sitting here making myself nauseous with this ugly food that stinks!"
So I busted out the door while it was still closed, still sick from the food I ate. Then I ran to the store for quick relief from a bottle of kaopectate. I called my friend two weeks later to see how he had been. He said, "I understand about the food, Erik, but we're still friends!"

That was cool of you to quote Rapper's Delight!

Hobbies and Interests: Computers, reading, building models, videogames, science, history, and coin collecting
Why are you here? I have Asperger's and I've started doing some research on it. One of the sites I went to was en.wikipedia.org, and while looking through the data on aforementioned site I found a link to wrongplanet.net, I clicked it and being one that likes to join online communites that have the similar interests that I have, I joined this site and here I am.
When were you diagnosed? A few years ago, I forget when exactly.
Favorite subjects: History, Math, and Science
Year/Grade: 8th grade
Favorite music: jazz, and classical
Books: I like all genres, I am currently reading some short storys that were written by H.P Lovecraft
TV shows/Movies:I don't have a favorite TV show, and I don't like any movies either.

How did you find this website?I found this site via wikipedia
Job:none at the moment, I'm too young, but I do want to become a computer engineer when I mature into a functioning member of society
Plans for the future? I would like to go to the ASMSA during my junior and senior years of highschool, then hopefully go to MIT where I can get a degree in computer engineering, or whatever degree they have for that career choice, and then after that find a job in computer engineering and continue my life.
Any comments? None at the moment but thanks for asking. *walks away then runs back*
Oh wait! I do have one, the reason all the questions and answers are spaced apart is I didn't want it to seem it was all one thing and look disorganized.
What is your first name?
Oliver. But I hate that, so I only respon to Ollie really.
Age:
20
Location:
Cambridge
Hobbies and Interests:
Photography, Computer Games, Drawing.
Why are you here?
Because I have nobody to interact with and feel unwelcome on other forums.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
When I was 17.
Favorite subjects:
Photography. Philosophy and psychology, but I know little about these.
Year/Grade:
Second year at Uni.

I hate this question.
Books:
I don't read much, just Berserk books.

Berserk, Battle Royale, Memento, and a few others. Hate listing them all.

>>>Hobbies and Interests:
Modified Japanese cars, Computer hardware, 2d / 3d Art, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Psychology, Real Estate, Business, Self Development (In no particular order)
>>>Why are you here?
Cause all the cool kids are doing it.
>>>When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Last week! By me. I might get someone to tell me officially what I already know when I can be bothered.
>>>Year/Grade:
Graduated High School 2002. Completed intensive 3d Artist course after school.
>>>Favorite music:
House, RnB, UK Garage, Trance (and all it's permutations), Dance, Happy Hardcore, Chillout, System of a Down, Rap and some pop songs every now and then.
>>>Books:
Anything I can learn from, technical manuals, self development and some lesser literature like Ralph while waiting to get a haircut. Though I really can't stand the fake orange skinned tupperware girls. What ever happened to natural beauty?
>>>TV shows/Movies:
I hate TV for the most part. I do like some reality shows, again, because I can learn something from them. I have watched Survivor, The Apprentice and watched a few LOST episodes but ultimately it's fictionalness put me to sleep
In terms of Movies I am most drawn towards R-rated types. Not so much for the gratuitous content but because they make you think, or leave a profound impression on you and sometimes contain a message about humanity.
I also like dry comedies such as Anchorman, that was great. Invader Zim also deserves a mention, I have a strong feeling that the show creator has AS of some form or extent.
>>>Instrument:
Never really got into it though I have no doubt I could be good at it.
>>>Do you like sports?
I went along to the Australian open last week for the first time expecting team spirit and weird things like that to be forced on me. Though pleasantly it was not the case, and I was free to sip my Scotch and Dry while sitting back and watching. Sport is something my mind has always been very closed to possibly beacuse of getting a hard time about it in school. I like to watch gymnastics, bobsledding and ski jumping when it's on. Though if I miss it I don't get upset. I play ping pong whenever someone I know has a table and the mood is right. Good fun
>>>Family:
Maintain a good friendship with both my parents. Moved out of home over a year ago now.
>>>Clothing:
Neat Casual collars and jeans, T-Shirt and Shorts when it's hot (Also neat) Pretty up to date.

Too many.

R: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
B: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Age: 38 (born 1968) but I still feel like 25
Art: I like drawing and photography (and want to get into body painting), but I appreciate all forms of art. B-movies and foreign films. Theatre, history, especially pirates and medieval. Some video games, like Everquest 2 online, and Tomb Raider and racing games on my PS2.
Favorite subjects: writing, literature, astronomy, theatre, physics
Plans for the future? Get my writing published, get a house, finish my degree in Aerospace Engineering (or architectual, or both), get a job in my field. (not neccesarily in that order)
about age, i'm trying to sort out that myself (i'm currently observing people in order to understand more about growing older)
you like drawing and photography, watching it or doing it yourself?
i'm studying literature but i don't like it ...
what are you writing?
welcome to wrong planet!
What is your first name?
Eric
Age:
33
Location:
Massachusetts
Hobbies and Interests:
Classical Guitar, Soccer, bicycling
Why are you here?
My mother had a bit too much to drink one night...
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
This month. It was never suspected when I was young because it wasn't recognized at the time (graduated high school in '92) so they just figured it was a myriad of ADD, hyperactivity, bi-polar, even schizophrenic. Autism was never suspected because I don't show many outward symptoms (language development, rocking, etc.) and as I'm getting older, I'm finding it easier to make my way through life.
Favorite subjects:
Statistics, and related subjects. I also enjoyed philosophy, and political science most of all.
Year/Grade:
I nearly failed out of high school (hardest 5 1/2 years of my life!) so I thought college was out of the question. A couple of years ago I felt confident, and now I'm in my senior year.
Favorite music:
To play: Baroque, and I'll try some Spanish, but I don't have the feel for it. Mainly late Renaissance to early Classical periods. Listening is another story, just about everything is represented in my CD collection, with a particular love for electronic chill-out music.
Books:
Mostly school right now, I do some fiction, but I prefer history, or political commentary.
TV shows/Movies:
Besides the cartoon cabal (South Park, Simpsons, etc.) I like My Name is Earl. It's funny, well written, and has a positive message. I don't have cable, so I can't say much else...
Instrument:
Guitar. I played in rock and metal bands a while ago, but now it's pretty much classical.
Do you like sports?
I play soccer, and love watching it too. I'll watch football on Sundays sometimes, but people take that game WAY too seriously.
Family:
Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother, with half sisters in England.
Clothing:
Varies to suit the occasion, but I try to look nice, although sometimes I appear overdressed. I think it's fun to get dressed up, even if I am only going to school.
How did you find this website?
wikipedia
Job:
I've worked in power plants doing the Homer Simpson thing. Not quite the safety inspector of 7-g, but remarkably close.
Plans for the future?
Finish school just because I never thought I could. I have a good job, and I'm not sure what a degree will mean, but I failed so miserably in high school, it would seem a waste of my brain to not attempt to challenge it like this.
Any comments?
I'm just learning about all this, but it's a dream come true to find out that others' thoughts are on the same frequency as mine.
What is your first name? Amy
Age: 22
Location: North west England
Hobbies and Interests: Reading, playing children's computer games (neopets takes up a ridiculous amount of my time ), learning new things, watching TV, walking in pretty places
Why are you here? I don't know anyone else with AS and I was hoping to understand why I'm like this a bit more
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I'm not diagnosed-I read about AS 4 years ago and it scared me that it sounded like me so I ignored it. Over the last 6 months however it's become more apparent (had to meet new people!) and I've done lots of research, taken on-line tests and it seems that I almost definitely have it.
Favorite subjects: History, Philosophy, psychology, english literature (assuming you mean subjects from my school days)
Year/Grade: I'm a post-graduate
Favorite music: Elliott Smith, Quasi, Grandaddy, Keane, Ed Harcourt, Belle and Sebastian, Muse...and others like them.
Books: I love Stephen Fry's books but have only read a few so far. Just read two Dawkins books that were really good.
TV shows/Movies: British comedy such as The Mighty Boosh, Peep Show and The League of Gentlemen. I also watch Neighbours (the australian soap), documentaries, and series like Life on Mars. Pretty much anything then, .
Instrument: I'm not great at playing music but I like to play on my boyfriend's sister's piano.
Do you like sports? Hmmm...I don't play any sports unless I'm made to (on my uni course) but I do quite like it when I do. I don't watch any, apart from the odd snooker or darts match.
Family: I live with my boyfriend's family at the moment.
Clothing: Anything I can afford. Jeans mostly and t-shirts, although my sister just bought me a load of fancier clothes so I'm wearing them at the moment.
How did you find this website? Via the Richard Dawkins website under the Atheism and Autism thread.
Job: Training to be a primary school teacher at the moment (supposed to be applying for jobs right now as a matter of fact)
Plans for the future? Get a job in a lovely school, buy a house, adopt some kiddiwinks.
Any comments? This is my first post so hello!

Age: 15 (16 in a few weeks)
Location: The-smallest-town-in-North-America, Ohio.
Hobbies and Interests: Writing, drawing, music...um...I lost most of interests actually.
Why are you here? Because I'm an aspie.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Self-diagnosed last April. Working on an offical dx. Along with a couple of other dxs (avodiant, bipolar (?), and schizotypal) because I'm almost positive I'm not just AS.
Favorite subjects: English, Art
Year/Grade: 10th
Favorite music: Metal, Rock (almost all variations, I won't list them all). At the moment I'm listening to "Kiss and Control" by AFI.
Books: Lots. I recently started a series called Demon Diary and have completely fallen in love, so that's the big one at the moment.
TV shows/Movies: None really. I don't watch a lot of TV.
Instrument: I can still tinker around on the piano, and I'm getting guitar lessons next month.
Do you like sports? Meh, depends on the sport. I don't do sports though.

Plans for the future? College, writing, and (probably) psychology. Oh, and moving somewhere big.
Any comments? ...Not really. I thought I had posted here before, but apparantly I didn't.

What is your first name? Edward
Age: 16
Location: San Francisco, CA
Hobbies and Interests: Lots out there, but mainly Legends of the Hidden Temple, fractal creating, game creating, creating creating, piano playing...
Why are you here? I imagine people's reasons are similar... I'm an aspie, and I wanted to share my own thoughts with others and finally be a part of a community that understands what it means to be one.
When were you diagnosed?: Well, I haven't been clinically tested, but I'm almost positive I do have AS, based on the criteria. I've acted like I have for as long as I can remember.
Favorite subjects: Math, Electronics, Glass
Year/Grade: Junior in high school.
Favorite music: Honestly, the music from the Donkey Kong Country series.
Books: Not a huge book fan, but I found I could relate to a lot to The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It's been a book that's really stuck with me.
TV shows/Movies: Legends of the Hidden Temple, 24, Saturday Night Live.
Instrument: Funny you should ask. Piano--mostly tunes I figure out by ear.
Do you like sports? Sure. I do Track & Field and a ping-pong/volleyball hybrid game my friends and I invented at school.
Family: Mother, father, brother... basic.
Clothing: Comfortable cargo pants and colored shirts, and a black jacket. I can't stand shorts or sweatshirts.
How did you find this website? I tripped and fell. Rather, I was having a casual conversation with a friend from an online forum who said he thought that "at least 40% of the members on the form had Asperger's." Not knowing what it was, I looked it up on Wikipedia, only to find the perfect identification to my problems.
Job: None at the moment.
Plans for the future? We'll see--I wish I could just stay in the present. It's cozy here.
Any comments? I really have two major social hindrances, the first being that I have AS, and the second that I'm gay. But seeing as how things could be at this point, I think I'm doing fine.
Okay, nicking profile...
