From what I have read this has mostly to do with the camera angle.

Or takes it away, which is worse in some people's cases.

A picture of me, looking kinda weird, I think I was a little sad or something when I took it. Does anyone have a hard time with getting weird looks when you try to take selfies?

You don't look that weird, you just look like you might be thinking about something or a little bit sad/lost like you said. The selfie is also very desaturated, which gives it a grey looking overlay.

The angle of the camera too, I guess. It makes you look like you're looking down.

I find it's best to angle the camera up more so that eye contact is more easily made and it's easier to keep a good posture. There are a lot of good tricks for taking a good selfie, but most people look good when they're relaxed or looking alert, positive. Don't always have to necessarily smile to make a good picture, but you don't want to seem down either.

I don't have trouble with taking my own pictures, but I don't like it when other people take pictures of me, so I avoid that or end up taking the pictures of other people, lol. I'm pretty good at it anyway.

Ya bro you don't look that weird, taking selfies just kinda feels weird in general IMO. I think the problem with a lot of people taking selfies is they stiffen up and cant relax so they just kinda look dazed. If you wanna take a good pic think of something that makes you happy or something funny, or if you can try to look confident, just think " I'm gonna show this dam camera who's the sexiest man alive" lol Or maybe a shot of Jack to loosen ya up

IOW the camera lens REVEALS the real fatty hiding inside the self-image of the subject.
