Count me in. I would adore sleeping in a refrigerator box. Can we have a camp fire too?

A breath of optimism topic

Thanks, asplanet for her article and Nannarob for the link to it. This should be required reading for the younger set on this website. It would have done me the world of good thirty five years ago. But, as always, better late than never. :)

I tend to read Schopenhauer and Kierkegaard when my mood is calm and still. These two can be like miserable company.

I just wanted everyone to know that Hartzofspace is feeling down and I do not know where she is? I will try to pm her.

CC, Helen loves campfires. The 4 kids next door and her kids melt marshmellows even in summer!

Hi Robyn. I love sitting around a camp fire. Most of our vacations were camping trips when our kids were young. Love sleeping in a tent too. On the ground. None of that fancy stuff like air mattresses and such. And then we cook the fish we caught for breakfast. Deep in the woods. Ah, what memories.

I have my "grumpy old man" hat on...

I'm sorry, but I find it so difficult to take anything on the asplanet website seriously, when it has this there.

Quote:
Prominent AS-diagnosed individuals include: John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson, Leonard Nimoy, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Temple Grandin, Craig Nicholls, Gary Numan, Vernon Smith and Satoshi Tajiri (the Creator of Pokemon franchise) and Hans Aspergers (Austrian pediatric doctor after whom Aspergers Syndrome is named).

John Cleese - no
Rowan Atkinson - no
Leonard Nimoy - no
(In the above three cases, it confuses the actors with characters they have portrayed - and even then, the characters don't come particularly close to AS. Basil Fawlty is probably too loud, Mr. Bean seems malicious, to me, these days, and Mr. Spock was supposed to be an alien - anything aspie about that would have been coincidental.)

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - no (AS had not been invented, plus too little evidence)

Temple Grandin - no (she is autistic)

Craig Nicholls - maybe (he used a supposed diagnosis of AS to get off an assault charge)

Gary Numan - maybe (he acknowledges "mild" AS as a self-diagnosis)

Vernon Smith - yes (although I'm not sure if he has bothered with an "official" diagnosis)

Satoshi Tajiri - no (anecdotal yes)

Hans Aspergers - no (there isn't anything like enough evidence)

So, from the lot, just one (qualified) "yes".

Thanks for that and your right I should of put "possible", but I only found out about Aspergers June last year and was diagnosed myself shortly afterwards, web site grew quite quickly, so yes must check over things I first put, was a little keen to get site started and guess was still trying to come to terms/convince myself it was ok to have Aspergers, also as running my first web site on my - own big learning curve for someone my age.. so really do appreciate any advice or help....

So big apologizes if I mislead anyone, but really feel I have come such along way since then.. I am more than happy to listen to others and learn, it does state I'm not a professional on my site, just trying to share my thoughts and story to help others.

So would appreciate if you could take that grumpy  old hat off and be a little supportive.
I really am happy to listen to others and be corrected, that’s why there is a space for comments on every web site page, I truly feel we should listen and learn from each other’s - not criticize and turn on ourselves...

Sounds great!

But first I would have to go to the local electrical store and get empty refrigerator boxes.

Everyone would be assigned their own box - they could hide anytime they wanted!

I did enjoy meeting a few other WrongPlanet members in London.

Yessss!

Homey old folks dispensing reminiscence, pleasantries and bromides from the comfort of the rocking chair on the porch? No way in HAY-ul! Most of us are just as edgy and full of 'tude now as we were when we were younger - maybe even more so. (Lookin' at you, Lau. :D And also at myself. )

Lau's point is well-taken, though. In our rush to celebrate our uniqueness and feel good about ourselves, we must not leave behind our ability to evaluate rationally and think critically - which, after all, is our greatest strength.

I'm bringin' the marshmallows! Cain't drink coffee no more, go for the sugar buzz instead. :bounce:

morning_after thanks for inviting me to come along and speak with you all at The Dino-Asie... I did not expect to be criticized so soon (not by you of course), but guess its good to get great constructive feedback comments regarding my site...

richiewhere in London did you meet some WrongPlanet members... I orginally come from London but escaped.... to sunny Kiwi land 8)

SleepyDragon /richie: "Rocking chair" made me think back to my mother, she use to drive us all crazy rocking back and forth for hours.. she was never diagnosed but I'm sure she was an aspie now, so many things I can now relate too.... help the rocking chair is beginning to seem appealing :?

Coffee some think I should not drink, but still do - can not give up everything. The local cafe gives marshmallows out with children hot drinks, must ask about why not adults...

Nannarob, sartresue thanks for the mention of my article...

Anyway just wanted to say hello to everyone and really do welcome any feedback or suggestions regarding my site / articles
