Hey guys, just checking in to say hi and introduce myself.

I haven't been diagnosed, and I haven't even seen a doctor for a diagnosis. But I've recently been reading more and more about Asperger's, and I'm starting to think that I might have it.

I've always felt 'different' to most people. I'd feel like the odd one out who didn't quite 'get' what was going on in social situations. I've always been quite literal, quite matter-of-fact, and quite awkward, and while I've managed socially I've always found it takes a lot of conscious effort for me. I definitely feel like I'm on the 'wrong planet' when it comes to social situations.

Up till now I've just put this down to me being depressed, as I can get like that sometimes. I thought for a while that I might have some personality disorder, and that I'd go through therapy and then voila - I'd be fine. But since my upbringing and childhood really wasn't that bad, this is increasingly making less sense to me.

I like writing, and I'm good at music, and with particular interests I can be fairly smart - I never had a problem with school. It's the social side that's always been an issue. I just feel like I'm wired differently to most people. I don't really 'get' emotions, or intuition. I don't even really understand my own emotions, and don't seem to experience things in the way most people do (although I can 'fake' things fairly well sometimes).

I'm not saying I have or don't have AS - right now I don't know. It's just something that at the moment seems to 'fit' me pretty well, and something I'm exploring.

Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself. Look forward to speaking to you all on the forums!

I suggest taking this test to get more of an idea.

Just took the test, and scored 36.

I also had a go at the rdos-aspie quiz, and my results on that were:

Your Aspie score: 120 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 69 of 200

You scored almost identical to me. My AQ score was 35 and my Aspie quiz was 122 Aspie/85 NT. I am also undiagnosed, but I am sure that I'm on the spectrum.

Your life story sounds very similar to mine. I'm also good at music, and I attribute much of my talent to sensory hypersensitivity (sometimes comes with the territory) as a child.

So, welcome! May you find answers for your questions and find questions you didn't even think to ask!

I scored 122 AS and 100 NT.. Anyone else in that range with a confirmed diagnosis?
