I just want to see how many people here live near me.

I don't like living at the Jersey Shore, the bennies crowd it up. I don't like the beach too many screamers and I get a rash from the salt water, plus it's cold. Also any time a child screams or a dog barks it echos throughout the neighborhood, and I sometimes hear a foghorn at 5 am, I don't mind the train so much.

Or does anyone visit the Jersey Shore?

I don't live near the Jersey shore, but I visit it sometimes. There are a couple beaches I find to be pretty good.

Wildwood is the best beach, I usually go there every year with my family, but this year I'm not, getting a little sick of the same place every year, I may visit.

I've never gone there before, although I hear it's nice. Usually I go to northern or central nj beaches. When I was younger I used to go all the time, you couldn't get me out of the water. But my trips are dwindling, I burn easily and most of the time I have trouble adjusting to the water temperature.

I lived in Monmouth County when I was 6-8 (and I'm from England). I went back to visit in 2007 and it was a bit of a shock for me. I still remember quite a lot of it from 1991-92, and if I remember correctly it featured quite heavily in Kevin Smith's films and the Sopranos!

Well it's getting close to summer so I will have to deal with the Bennies over crowding the beaches and boardwalks!

I think about going to the beach a lot, but rarely get there. I'm from northern NJ. By the way many of the people from my hometown (on of the worst places you could find) moved to your area in the 90s--watch out for them, and their issue.

I visited a friend who lives at some section of the shore. It was during the summer but, since there aren't any hotels or commercial attractions, it wasn't crowded. I skated a nice, 7-mile path on my home-made, lowrider longboard, one way and then came back. I really want to go there again.

Yup...I'm from the Jersey Shore. Grew up in Jackson (sort of inland but still 20-30 min from the beach). I've lived in Lakewood, Toms River, Point, Asbury, Belmar, Seaside Heights, and I currently live in Belford. My favorite beach is a little fishing beach towards the Barnegat Inlet end of Island Beach State Park, and I'd rather drive almost an hour to get there than the 10 minutes it takes me to get to Sandy Hook (way to many bennys, and I don't need to see the NYC skyline from the beach). I don't have a problem swimming in 58 degree water either....

I do like living on the Jersey Shore and I don't' have any intentions of leaving it....

What I don't like about the Shore all the traffic the bennys cause on the parkway, and how it's impossible to ever find parking anywhere near the beach on a weekend, even if you aren't actually going to the beach.. Oh, and I hate the clusterf**k on Route 36 that the Highlands bridge causes when it opens, and when Sandy Hook is closed due to overcrowding....and how I hate being asked the question "How do you get to the Parkway north?"

And don't even get me started on Seaside....or D'jais.

But all in all...I like living somewhere with all four seasons, and I think the Jersey shore is beautiful, and I understand why the bennys come down to visit. I'm just not a fan of the overcrowding. I look forward to an Indian summer in September or October to spend time at the beach...

My Mom is from Asbury Park area (Neptune). Spent a lot of time growing up during the summers on the beach and at the boardwalk when we visited.

Actually, it is Bayonne, not Brooklyn.
They refer to train stops on the Bayhead train line, and the visitors that they brought to the beach. Nowadays, most people drive in and out, further exasperating the problem.

Yeah, I used to live in Monmouth county, and I still work here. I moved to southern Jersey recently.

Hi! Age1600 is from the Jersey Shore but I haven't seen her around the forums much lately.
