Hello there.
I've recently joined the forums here and it appears to be that an introduction is in order. I've visited before in the past but for whatever reason I never signed up. I was diagnosed through the course of my public education with ADHD, AS, and HFA.
I am currently a student at a community college in North Carolina, USA after dropping out of public university several years ago. I delivered pizza for about a year before contracting in IT for around 2 years. After leaving my last job under some interesting circumstances I decided that IT and system administration really weren't things I wanted to do: my interest in computers and technology did not extend to others' computers and technology, essentially. Several months prior and contributing to the interesting circumstances I allude to my engagement ended when my ex-fiance cheated on me with a friend of mine, we had a fairly epic break-up, and I began to discover how few true friends I really had there. I felt no reason to stick around and moved back home after failing to look for another job. Things are boring here, though. It's a smallish retirement community that has little to offer in the way of entertainment and doesn't keep my hours.
It's my goal now to transfer back into a public university and get some of those important-looking pieces of paper with my name on them. I am planning to complete a BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. From there I hope to engage in graduate studies of Economics with a focus on computational analysis. I've had difficulty deciding between CS and EE even before my first attempt at university. I think the CS degree has become dilute of theory, with many programs having excessive focus on the principles of software engineering. EE seems to encompass more information and signal theory at the undergraduate level than CS and I think in the long run that would be more beneficial. EE punked me the first time around, though, so I am a little reluctant to try again.
Other than the obvious interest in computering and electronics, I'm also interested in automobiles and motorsport, physics, the culture of the psychedelic era, reading, debate, a bit of political theory (considering anarchism as an ideal), and occassionally fitness (isometrics, yoga, Pilates... not a big fan of cardio or equipment).
I guess that's that. So what's up, everyone?
