Hello, all.
I've seen WrongPlanet mentioned several times in recent months, and thought it was about time I signed up. I've never joined a forum of this type before, so I'm hoping it will be a good and positive move.
A bit about me - I'm a displaced Northern bloke, now living in London and working in a challenging office-based job. I was diagnosed at 19, and graduated last year with first-class honours in English Lit. I've done some interesting stuff along the way, ranging from being a pub chef to running a comic shop for three years. I'm still learning social skills, and was pleasantly surprised that doing bar work allowed me to pick up the fine art of small talk. Just starting to get a decent core of friends around me, and continually struggling with the subtle science and exact art of relationships.
Living in London can be a real challenge at the best of times, but I've just spent nine months living in absolute hell with a flatmate who chose to use my disability as a reason for harassing me. I was always the one who was weird, and wrong, and had to be more "normal". I hated that, and hated the tendencies it brought out in me. Worse still, I kept wondering if some of the things she said were actually right.
The username and avatar are from one of my favourite movies, Forbidden Planet - I guess it seemed rather appropriate. Although, given the choice, I'd much rather have a TARDIS...
