I am a 30yo man with both Asperger's and schizophrenia (although thankfully, medication has kept the latter under control for the last couple of years).
I don't have many IRL friends. I do go out and volunteer for a couple of organizations, but connecting with others is difficult for me to do. I find it very difficult to befriend others out there, which sucks, because I would love to have people that I can watch movies and play video games with, or have somebody to go the Y or do some mountain hiking with me. As of now, I do all of those things alone (except for the hiking - because I can't drive, so I can't make it to Mt. Ranier by myself).
I am hoping to converse with others here who know exactly where I am coming from. I find it easier to be open about myself and who I am online than when I am in the real world. I have no problems finding people to play video games with me through XBox Live - but it's not the same as having somebody in the living room next to me, sipping bourbon (my drink of choice) and taking the second controller.
So, here I am, and this is my first post here. Heh.
