Hi. I am new here and just want to share a little about my Son and myself.
My son is 7 at the moment and was diagnosed with a form of Autism called "Pervasive Learning Disorder" when he was younger (about 3 years old).

Also, he was born 3 months early which lends to some other issues he is having problems with and along with the PLD, he shows some signs of possibly having other Autism disorders... perhaps Asperger Syndrome.

He is a very bright child in many ways and is a joy to have around. His Mother and I have been divorced since 2007 but he really doesn't seem to be aware of things like marriage and separation. He isn't showing any signs of it bothering him like it does with other children. He is always happy to and wants to come to my home every weekend and visa versa.

We live in WV and he is going to school. He attends special education classes for the most part and because he has some issues with the younger kids in school, he also attends a couple of regular classes that have older kids in them.

He has always had a problem with hitting and pushing smaller, younger kids but he does not seem to be interested in doing those things with his younger 1/2 brother who is only 3 1/2 months old.

He has always had problems with adjusting in the beginning of the school year but this year has been worse than in the past and we (his Mother and I) are at our wit's end on what to do about several situations. He has been hitting and kicking the other kids and teachers... he has been repeating things he has heard in inappropriate manners and times... he has been destroying things in class and giving his main teacher quite a fit almost every day.

Like I said, this is very strange because he does not do those things at my home. He is very well behaved and likes to play and watch his Disney/Pixar movies (which he has about 12 of them)

I found this forum by looking around online, trying to find some place I can get some support so I can help my Son learn and grow and understand that being misbehaved in school is a bad thing and he won't get into trouble if he does better.

Really, sometimes I just want to cry because I know he can do much better because when he is here at my home, he is very well behaved. He doesn't hit or kick or spit at people, he doesn't say bad things, and he doesn't repeat everything he hears... but he does talk and try's to carry a conversation.

Well, that is about it for the intro so I guess I will be looking around to see what I can find out or help with.

Thanks. :)

You have no way of really knowing what's happening at school or in his mind until he tells you.
I would take his behavior as a clue and get him out of there if at all possible. Do you have any alternatives? Private or charter school?
