Well, since this seems to be the proper thing to do on here...
I just joined this forum today, though I've visited a couple times over the last few months. Anyway, I'm lexington1, from Columbia, South Carolina, in the United States.
I have Aspergers, diagnosed in middle school. Right now, I'm a third year student at the University of South Carolina, majoring in History (my area of interest is the history of the Islamic world, but the only professor in the department qualified in that area retired last December ) I love to read-I like history (naturally) and science fiction. My favorite author of fiction is J.R.R. Tolkien. I'm also into science and technology some (I used to think I wanted to be a computer programmer, before I discovered I hate programming (I just learned some HTML and javascript, which I've largely forgotten. I don't know any programming languages, if you were wondering). I'm into languages some-I'm studying Arabic now, and would like to learn French and another Islamic language (Farsi or Turkish, probably the former), and perhaps Italian, if I ever have the time after the first three
My case of Aspergers is somewhat mild, or at least I've been told. I still have a very hard time with social skills and have much fewer friends than most people. I was always a "loner" in grade school and didn't really make any friends till high school. I've always been more intelligent IQ-wise, but i have a very hard time remembering mundane things (like homework!). I was obssessed with really wierd things (like fans and car models) when I was young, and shifted topics throughout school. I think I've finally settled on Middle Eastern history-its really fascinating, and the people I've met from there are some of the nicest and most friendly I've known.
Anyway, I'll be posting some, though probably infrequently since I have a busy semester. Nice talking to everybody!
