"Uriah"

New to WP

- Autism in childhood
- Very high functioning Asperger's adult
- High level Engineering position as profession - 6 figure salary

Hobbies:
- Well-known psychic of future events on the net - 85% accuracy judged
-- Tsunami 2004
-- Katrina
-- Death of John Paul II
-- Various quakes, solar flares, etc.
-- Economic crash of 2008 (predicted in detail 2006)

- Former Survival instructor - Outward Bound and Vision Quest
- Have "survival" farm and gardens deep in Maine woods.

Lifestyle:
- Need for "daily withdrawal" from world. Strategy: "their" thing 8-12 hours, then enter my "inner sanctum". Nifty act... sucessful!
- Live deep in the Maine wilderness off-grid in self designed / built solar underground house that costs 15 cents / day to heat in winter.
- Travels around world on projects, then returns to "basecamp" for "regeneration".
Sound familiar?

Accomplishment:
- Working in Germany at that time...
- Discovered "severely" autistic neighborhood child, 4, in diapers - no toilet training, no speech.
- No therapist could handle him.
- Mother at end of rope.
- Began visits. "Sebastian" would run to corner and cover himself with stuffed toys till I left - 1 month duration.
- Visited during "nap-time" gently pick sleeping Sebastian up and cradle on couch till he wakes up. Seein me he flees to corner, does cover-up thing. 1 month duration.
- One day, Sebastian wakes up and lays still contemplating, occasional quick eye contact. Continues 50% with cover-up escape alternate behavior.
- Observe that Sebastian loves rocking horse and horses. During horse video, I get on all fours and mimic horse. Sebastian laughs with glee and jumps on for ride around room. Continues daily.
- CONNECTION. Trust. Familiarity. Acceptance!
- Step 2: Attempt to teach speech... tough one! BUT Sebastian learns my laptop keyboard!! Learns alphabet from copying words from his D. Duck comic books - Still cannot pronounce.
- Buy "talking" child computer with pronounced words. Some progress, but very few words mimicked.
- Meanwhile, Sebastian begins to open up to others... SLOWLY... never eye contact and very selective, mostly girls his sister's age (14), whom he gets along with very well. No diapers anymore, but bedwetting problem (till age 7, I heard)
- Progress with color identification, shapes of objects, identification of pictures, other things for preschool exam.
- Sebastian now 5 1/2 must submit to school exam.
- Very snippy aggressive nurse immediately drives Sebastian back into shell.
- Disaster ! ! Sebastian becomes basket case in Dr's office
- Doctor cannot now even get to first base with him after that. Hands us his first school assignment.
- We arrive at the school next week apalled to find out they are all Down's kids.
- We immediately take Sebastian home.
- We get legal order to send him to school, special bus arranged for pickup.
- We flee to the US, his mother (widowed, good pension) gets a 6 month visa.
- Problem... Sebastian must now learn english too. Plays well in 1st grade, teachers love him.
- Special ed teacher cannot make headway due to language barrier (although she minored in German, she refuses).
- At end of 6 months we return to Germany, seek and find "speech" oriented school... overfilled, can't accept.
- Director reads Doctor's Down's school placement order, and takes Sebastian into a room, makes "freinds" with him and lets him play with educational toys while observing.
- Tearfully touched, he says that he will MAKE room for the boy.
- 6 months later Sebastian is top of class in math, speaking slowly but legibly.
- One year later, cannot distinguish that he has any abnormality.

Perseverance!

Question: Any documented increased level of Psi ability among Au/Asp's ? Links? -just curious.

woww, amazing :o

it's not often to hear in person someone who has done such great things with their life.
even while hindered by AS.

personally i'm just a 19 yr old looking for a job & a car. my resources aren't currently adequate enough for higher ambitions haha. for now i'm just trying to survive day to day.

though someday i was thinking maybe i'd like to do something in psychology or social services. i love helping people :) . it's just in my personality. even the MBTI (Meyer-Briggs Typology) test confirms  .

my result was type "INFP" (The "Healer"/"Dreamer"/"Idealist")
i found the full description almost spookily accurate
link to description --> http://www.personalitypage.com/INFP.html

and the test link for the curious-->http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
