Hi, I'm new. I've never joined an online community before. My counselor said it would be a good idea to talk to people with similar experiences.

My doctor thinks I may have mild Aspergers, and I'm going to go to a diagnostic assessment to find out. Other people in my family are on the autism spectrum. Even if I don't have Aspergers, I still have trouble making friends and would rather sit in my room drawing maps and designing animals for my fantasy world.

Hello everyone!

wow! Then you have a lot to learn, its a completely new world once you discover it. It fits some people and some it dont fit. For me its the optimal saving of my need of socialisation. Without an online community like this I would suffer on beeing extremely lonely!

It is indeed a good idea but you shall only stay if you feel you like it and find it useful for yourself. So, my recommendation to you is to give it plenty of time. Stay around her and observe and browse in the archives. Look how the rest of us communicate and share our experiences. This is a very big forum with many visitors and newcommers every day. It can give an overwhelming impression in the beginning, like: OMG where to start!! 8O

Hello everyone!

Its a great introduction of yours. Feel yourself warmly welcomed and make yourself comfortable. Dont hesitate to ask us if you have questions about how to operate the forum or approach an "Moderator" who is a kind of "guideline" person. Also we have a kind of "internet languge" which you hopefully learn by time.

Welcome to WP

This 'community' like many on the net has it's share of personalities. There is a small group of people who post faster then I can read the messages.. we have friendly & helpful people and sadly we have a few trolls (people who enjoy causing conflict)

Because this is an open forum, you have no idea who the posters are.. even the pictures they post of themselves could be fake. I try to take people by their post, the real them shows up slowly..

Keep an open mind, try not to take anything too personal.. overall my limited experience here I have seen some awesome & supportive people.

Hey PlantScienceGirl, Welcome to Wrongplanet :D

Yes, this is the best place to talk to people with similar experience :)

Before I was on this site, I was more unhappy about my autism and wishing it was gone, and having replationship problems and been depressed for a long time.

How I got to this site? I was just a doing my normal things watching YouTube then came across this girl who was on about wrongplanet and then the next thing you know, i joined and now became a good part of the community and ever since and been to, ive felt like i'm not the only one who is weird and unusual...

Now that I feel more happier being autistic, however it still hasn't quite solved my relationship problems, however, I have learnt to focus on what I feel I do best which is art, computers and music. But also its made me more understanding and more aware of my autism and how to overcome it :)

Make yourself feel comfortable and you are most welcome :)
