Hello Wrong Planet,
My name is Gene. I'm 44 years old I think I might be an Aspie but not sure. If not than, I am an NT with many Aspie traits. Call me an Aspie, call me an NT, it doesn't matter, just don't call me late for dinner!
As far as Aspie traits go, I'm not good at socialising at all. I have a hard time "reading" a person's body language. I am easily distracted at work ( that also was the case during my school years) so it takes all my concentration to do my job. I am a senior engineering technician, which is basically an engineer without a 4 year college degree. I do much the same work as an engineer, I just don't get paid like one!
I have been married for 20 years to my wife. She is my saving grace. She keeps me on track. I don't know what I'd do without her.
Anyway, regardless of my diagnosis, I am the father to a 12 year old boy who definitely has AS. I'm sure he will want to create his own WP account soon. James ( my son) was diagnosed at age 4. He attended his local elementary school with other NT's until the 6th grade. Since then he has been placed in a special class of other AS kids and he is thriving. For the first time in his life, he is making friends. However, Jimmy is approaching the teenage years and of course his attitudes are changing. He likes his AS friends from class but desperately wants to join in with the NT teens at our church group. He is starting to get frustrated as he just can't seem to fit in. ( just like his Daddy). James has an NT brother named Tony. Tony is about the best big brother Jimmy could have . I'm very proud of him and he has the patience and understanding of a saint when it comes to his brother. Actually I'm quite proud of both my sons.
Well here's my first post. I'm sure there will be more.
