Hi everyone!

I have just been dx with Aspergers after about 2 years of "shooting the breeze" with my therapist. I have past mental health issues that have been dealt with and suffer from chronic health issues that are also being resolved. I am a 36 year old mother to a 14 year old boy. My fiance and I have been together for 6 years.

My cousin was severely autistic and at least 2 of my fathers cousins have been dx with Aspergers. It seems to reflect a genetic angle although I am still learning.

I am not surprised by the dx, I have always been termed "eccentric" and have felt more than a little outside of things, and not just socially . I am looking forward to talking to others who have developed skills in dealing with particularly uncomfortable situations in their lives or others who are new to the dx and are as mystified as I am (please also forgive my lack of abbreviated language knowledge!). Which forum would be a good place to start?

My "escapes" (for want of a better word) consist of quantum physics, algebra, knitting and the natural world and I LOVE Monty Python. I struggle with physical/emotional intimacy and interpreting/coping with human behaviour among other things.

Look forward to meeting you all in this lovely peaceful environment.......

Cheers,

Michhsta

Hi Michhsta, welcome,

I would recommend the general autism discussion forum,
you might also like the science forum (as you're interested in quantum physics and algebra)
I hang out there a lot.
Take your time to look around on the forums to see what's going on.

Anyway, enjoy your stay on the Wrong Planet!
