Hi everyone I'm from west Yorkshire, England. I'm 35 years old, married, with two little girls aged 6 and 8.

I have known I'm an Aspie for two years now and was diagnosed in August. I always knew I was a bit different because there has always been such a big gulf between what I am good at and the things I really struggle with. I was diagnosed as being dyslexic when I was 15 but that never really covered all the problems I was having.

I think I would describe my life as extremely tough until my mid 20's. I was lucky enough to find a man who liked my differences and did not take advantage of my naivety. Now life seems to just get better.

My interests change frequently, but they usually centre around history and literature, at the moment I'm really into Sherlock Holmes.

I signed onto this site along time ago, it has taken a while to get round to posting. Wrong Planet is just so big! It may take me a while to find my way round.

sorry it has taken so long to reply, I have become completely overtaken by my new interest pagan gods. :D

I had to wait a year to see a specialist, but then it was fairly plain sailing, about 16 months in total.

It is just a shame nobody spotted it when I was a kid.

Welcome...back? :)

Congrats on getting in to see the doctor. I am awaiting the next available appointment which is June. I am about your age (35 in 2 days!) and wish things had been figured out for me much earlier, too. I went between gifted classes and some special ed in 4tth grade. Later, I realized they just couldn't figure it out, they just knew something was going on. Also, I think they just didn't know as much back then. I guess we're just lucky to be able to address it now.

Oh! And pagan gods are fascinating! Which ones are you studying? I enjoy Norse and Polynesian pantheons - well, I find lots of belief systems interesting. I especially like runes, too.

Anyway, welcome!

I had that too they would put me in the top grade for most subjects, but would at the same time want to take me out of those classes to give me special ed, then the teacher of the class would say not to take me out of that class cos I was too good at that subject  .

Mainly British/Celtic and Roman/Greek, Intend to learn about Norse later if you can recommend some good books. :D
