Hello All,

After being member here for about three months I think it is about time to introduce myself.

I am male, 41.

I am in a long-term relationship my partner and I have a son of 7 years old.
I have a fulltime job.

I ran into all kinds of trouble all the time, or at work or at home, never ever things would run smoothly for me.
Why, I wondered is life always so difficult for me while others around me seem to be succesful so effortlesly?
Why have I always believed I was born in the wrong century?
And for heavens sake, stop telling me I have to listen better, I am trying, as good as I can!

Initially my thought was that I would be diagnosed with AD(H)D.
I'd get some pills , and life would become better soon..
The diagnosis came with a message: "There are doubts on another DSM IV indication."
After a few try outs of medicine, with bad results, more diagnosis tests were done.
Those resulted in an asperger diagnosis last November.

Initially , I felt relieved, there would be new insight in reachable opportunity's for me.
To know my shortcomings, the world would become a nicer place..

The initial euforia sank fast.
I fell into a 2 months long depression, maybe better described as overwhelming inertia.
Not that I felt deeply sad all the time, I yust had no desire to do anything...
That has had a destructive effect on my family life..

New insight reveals I found a new coping strategy and it's not working!!

Next week I start getting aspie oriented therapy in a specialised clinic.

It seems now that the depression fades away a bit and things are looking a bit brighter again.
