Hi everyone,

I have come to this forum hoping to better understand myself and my condition, and hopefully find others to connect with.

I'm 34 years old, male (but not liking being this gender very much), and in a relationship. I have known about Asperger's for a few years now, and although I did not officially seek diagnosis, I feel unfortunate to have come down with this type of neurological state. I for one would crave to be the type of person who is socially aware and can easily form relationships with others, but I have had such a hard time doing so for many years in my life and needless to say my childhood didn't exactly go smoothly.

I love hobbies like technology, computers, and soapmaking, and my taste in music is very unconventional -- I've listened to metal all my life and now find myself into neo-progressive rock like IQ, Pendragon, and Darwin's Radio. I am politically liberal and progressive, even though AS people have been traditionally been labeled as being more conservative. (Maybe as a teenager I was, but that was because of having gone through a religious camp at age 12 and stricken with fear over the whole brimstone and hellfire thing, with all the socially conservative issues thrown in for added measure).

I hope that in this place, I can find myself a "home". And I'm also hoping that there are many people of all genders and sexual orientations here, as I don't know how comfortable I would be in a gender-homogeneous environment. With that said, it's good to meet you all!

To add - I am very envious of people who have exquisite charm and social graces, especially in the past where I felt attracted to such people but felt that they were somehow unavailable.

Oh hey, Amon Amarth. I used to be a big fan of their during their Once Sent From The Golden Hall / The Avenger days.

Yeah they are a great metal band not really known by anyone I know.

I never heard that. I am politically left-wing and progressive.
