Hello. My name is Moog. I've recently diagnosed myself with Asperger's. Before that I thought I was schizoid, but it didn't quite fit me properly.
It doesn't have to be either/or ... my young psychiatrist gave me schizotypal personality disorder & Asperger's.
I also have major depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder and I am on a shed load of drugs which don't work. Blah blah blah!
Hey! Yeah I've not entirely ruled it out. A lot of the traits seem to cross over. I was wondering if Anhedonia is a common aspie thing or not, or if that's something separate. It's not mentioned in any of the stuff I've read so far. I guess I'll search for an a answer later.

Schizotypal personality disorder, or simply schizotypal disorder, is a personality disorder that is characterized by a need for social isolation, odd behavior and thinking, and often unconventional beliefs." That sounds like a lot of aspies doesn't it? I often wonder if these various so called personality disorders just explain different clusters of aspie characteristics.
If the drugs aren't working then I'd say don't take them. I've been drug free for a while, though I'm unemployed so I don't currently need to medicate to boost my ability to function in NT land. I wholeheartedly recommend meditation for depression, anxiety, OCD and ADHD.
Thanks to everyone for the welcomes!
