Hello.
My name is simon and my story is somewhat interesting. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3. My mother sent me to many councilors and psychiatrists and behavior modification people when I was younger but never told ANYONE that I had autism because she didt want me to be labeled. She told my father but my father denys it to this day. I went through school as an outcast just thinking I was a loser and knowing I was very different then everyone else in terms of the way I thought and acted. A few years ago a councilor told my mom that my autism has turned into AS because I had improved from all the help. I have every trait of AS except I am not clumsy and I do not slur my speech(very much).

I am 18 now and because I was starting to go back into my shell and block people off again my mother told me I had AS a few months ago. Before I was all alone and only my mother understood me. I have never meet anyone with AS in my life so you guys are the closest people to me that understand me even though I dont know any of you lol.

And don't be angry at your mother for not telling ANYONE. (although she should've told you)
She did it to protect you and i think it was the right call.

Evilmonkey- by no means am I mad she didt tell me. I completely understand and I am glad she didt tell me sooner. My childhood would have been harder if I was known as "that kid". Especially during a time when people went aware what AS actually is and just thought we were ret*d.

I found out 2 years ago, at 28, which it is not a bad age... however I had to go through my twenties without knowing and i'm pretty sure I could've avoided a lot of pain.

Knowing now you can avoid being known as "that weird guy"...

By the way, where are you from?

Hello,Simon.I'am a newcomer here.And I am AS too.like you I'm not clumsy and do not slur my speech.I think I am totolly ok,I don't think AS is a desease .I like people ,but they don't like me .they do not usually understand what i say,because i always talk something out of their head.
I found myself an AS when I was watching the movie "Adam".I was shocked when watching the movie.I found out what I am ,I

Hello. I was diagnosed Autism as a young child, but no one hid it from me. As much as I could grasp, I knew. I think it was the right choice and made it easier to understand differences.
