I was diagnosed with Asperger's (fantasy sub-type) a week or so ago and I've been lurking around the forums. I was pleased to see (for better or worse) there is a dedicated video games forum here.

That feels like an awkward place to end, but honestly I'm terrible at introductions. 8O

Nevertheless, welcome to WP!

For me it means I'm constantly going off into a fantasy world instead of facing reality, as I have for several years. I don't really have any other hobbies outside of playing video games, and when I meet people I'm more concerned about whether or not they like video games too, instead of finding out what else they like.

Having other interests is something very foreign to me, and real-world things that are common among people, like having friends and learning how to drive, have not been priorities for me.

Interesting. I've learned something I didn't know from this.

Interesting, but I wish they'd quit with the sexism. Seeing the word "boy" is uncomfortable for me.

Asperger Subtype - article - General Autism Discussion

Asperger "Subtypes"
"It is important to recognize that each Asperger child is different, with his or her own unique set of issues. No two are exactly the same. However, there are three main subtypes: the Rule Boy, the Logic Boy, and the Emotion Boy, each with its own basic set of issues and several individual subtypes. It is very important to clarify each child's issues, because each type demands a different kind of response from you. Choosing the right approach is crucial if changes are to occur. By determining your child's type you will be able to identify his most important characteristics and learn what his core issues are."

Interesting, but I'm not buyin' it...I fit every one of those sub-types, so what does that say about me?

I do like the name Paranoid Boy, though...there's gotta be a good pop song or a funny graphic novel in that name alone...

The exception is the rule.

I love those witty one-liners.

Hi All,

Well there you go. I too found this very interesting and I may be a little misguided...but... My aspie has been the Rule....let's say Person when he was between ages 1-11...and is definitely Logic these days aged almost 14.

You see, over the years of observing siblings and peers, he has systematically learned how to and has almost mastered the art of rule breaking.

Subtypes there may be, but how many could we all come up with? Probably more than the three mentioned. I didn't think you could categorize AS. Isn't it more of a spectrum thing?

The one I'm actually struggling with is the Emotion Person...possibly because emotion is pretty much absent in my aspie.
