As a rule of thumb I typically do not get involved in forums, it's just a way for me to get information just like reading Wikipedia or some reference manual. I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome even though I have felt I had it for a few years and never went in for the assessment. I was eventually prompted by school to do so because I have a tendency to procrastinate and a 26 year old struggling to get a BS in Chemistry is something I personally consider to be an issue. I never even usually go to counselor's because I have always had difficulty asking for help from anyone. Over the course of a few months I received an official diagnosis last April.

So now I am looking at ways this can help me, now that I know there is an issue how can it help me transition toward what I feel I need to work toward in life such as pulling my GPA out of the fire and getting on track with school/hopefully into graduate school. I'd love to leave the comfort of my parents home and live on my own but last time I tried that I ended up going through a bit of depression, maybe even develop a relationship with a woman. As Gomez said to Fester in Addams Family Values 'You'll meet someone. Someone very special. Someone who won't press charges'. Not that I have a history of them pressing charges, but avoidance and being 'creeped out' by me is a common occurrence. I typically try to start a relationship once per year. I figure it gives me enough time to mull things over and think if I truly did anything wrong, which I don't think I did by that point and I repeat the process.

So now I am here, looking on the Wrong Planet forums. Writing an introduction to other people with similar issues who probably deal with it the same way I do. How have they dealt with life's little frustrations and how can I do the same? I hope this has been a polite introduction to who I think I am and I will see you around.

Glad to have a non-forum person here at the forum. You're welcome. And I think you will find plenty of aspie friends here who will not be 'creeped out' by you.

Asking for help is an essential part of humility, and humility is an essential characteristic of a good leader, so feel free to ask for help as you follow your ambitions.

:salut: Welcome home!

This is the only forum I've ever participated in as well. Unfortunately, in keeping with Aspergian tradition, now that I've started, I can't seem to make myself shut the hell up.

I'm being interviewed in my professional capacity for a blog on geek women (although I consider myself to be a nerd rather than a geek, because the word geek is so fashionable these days).

One of the blog's writers mailed me the questions and I can type the replies. I am really struggling to prevent myself from writing an essay in response to every question.
