So... I'm here because I found this forum by chance while doing some research for a psychology class paper, after I exhausted the PsycInfo articles. S'yeah, I'm an Aspie, studying psychology, computer science, mathematics, and English in an interdisciplinary studies program, intent on pursuing a graduate degree focused in artificial intelligence.... I dunno, I think it's fun. I guess I was mostly looking for a way to combine together a bunch of things I really wanted to study. Screw practicality! >.>
I also love games. Video games, board games, card games (Magic: The Gathering and regular playing cards games, although I have friends who can convince me to bother with Yu-Gi-Oh from time to time). I also love making games of all those types, although I've never made a complete video game. u_u;... I got close though, I just got fed up with the change in Flash to ActionScript 3.0, because it made me wanna go all into the whole 3D thing, which I wasn't able to tackle, and I have to use my university campus' computers to actually use it., so I lost patience. ^^;; [EDIT] I didn't mess with AS3 until Flash CS4 came out, so yeah, they had 3D stuff by then....
The latest thing I'm wanting to do is tackle this playing card simulator of sorts. I wanted to make it so that you could do just about anything with it you could feasibly do in a card game you could make into a computer game, but without the rules built in. Like, you set your own mnemonics to do everything, you can load of a deck randomly, then another, shuffle them together, start putting cards into your hands, and start playing 21, then put change your mind and start playing a different game. I was thinking I could make it in Java. I happen to like Java. >.>
What actually has me motivated to try to make that program is Nomic (I was going to put a link to the article on Wikipedia here, but it seems I cannot yet. Ah well, c'est la vie). I've played it a few times with playing cards, usually starting from nothing, with the first rule to be suggested being "at the start of each player's turn, that player draws a card".... Things tend to build up nicely from there. ^^
But yeah, that's me and my weirdness. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Oh, and I also like anime of all kinds, nearly all music ever, and ... there was something else I was going to say here, but I Love Lucy distracted me with hilarity. xD
