Hello

I'm 44 and mum to Matthew (who has an appointment in a couple of weeks to see if he has Asperger's - currently 11 y/o), Luke (diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder - currently 8 y/o) and Luke's twin sister, Megan. I came across Wrong Plant via Twitter. Bit nervous about Matt's appointment as they will no doubt grill me about why I think he has a "problem". Trouble is, my mind goes blank at times like this so I know I'll have to go prepared!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello *wave*

Hi!

I try to keep lists of things when I have a meeting like that, so I don't forget something important. When my kids were tested the psychologist did ask a lot of questions so things pretty much got covered regardless of my lists.

I've got three boys all with various diagnoses and symptoms. They are now 13, 11 and 9. I'm in the US, in the hot and humid southeast. Stop on by the Parents Forum if you want to connect with other parents.

Hi folks, and thanks for your warm welcome I'm on Twitter too, so if any of you like tweeting, please come and say hi. I'm under the same name!

Think I'd better start my list, and soon! Oh, forgot to mention - ages ago I recorded a programme on TV about Reuben, a 14-year old boy who was diagnosed with AS at 12. Matthew watched it with me and he actually asked if he could go and see a specialist (an appt has already been arranged for approx 2 weeks) as I think a few things made him think. I said perhaps he could write down a few things in advance that bother him.

I was only diagnosed 2 years ago, so I've had to do a lot of reading on the condition, as I knew nothing about it.
