Oh god, where to begin...?

Hi, I'm Rob, 16 years old, from London, UK. Thought I'd sign up and see what it's like, I actually heard about this site a few years ago, my mum discovered it and said I should join it but the fact that it was her recommending it sort of put me off the idea seeing as I hated that she was so obsessive about the whole aspie thing (Pretty sure you can relate, amirite?)

I was diagnosed with AS when I was 10. I've got a mild case but it still takes its effect. I've got plenty of friends but I'm obviously different to them (I tend to leave a sort of "Cool guy but a bit weird" impression lol) and I tend to be the joker of the group. I love going out and socialising but more often than not I'll just sit at home at the computer or smoke weed in my room (Trying to cut down). I was always the smartest kid in school, but was also in with the wrong crowd, sorta half geek half thug haha... I've always sort of looked down on people, used to walk out of reading classes when the slower kids took their turn, I sometimes talk harshly about people behind their backs and I can be a bit critical sometimes.

I'm usually miles away, as soon as I start thinking about something I seem to be completely oblivious to the outside world, I can't stand eye contact, I stutter every now and then, I get obsessed with things easily, I get frustrated easily, I fidget all the time, I can be socially awkward but I usually keep it to a minimum. Pretty sure most of you can relate to this paragraph

Ehh, as far as my overall personality goes, I like to think of myself as a fun guy. I like to go out whenever I can, I have a wide range of friends, I'm good with kids and I've got older friends too for when people my age seem a tad too immature I love going out drinking, not good I know but it's a passion of mine haha... I don't have any obsessions or interests in particular, I tend to obsess about one thing for a while then drift off to another. I'm currently on an Art & Design course in college but I don't like it and I wanna do psychology (See what I mean?) I'm always up for cracking a joke, I love cheering my friends up when they're down, I'm a nice guy to talk to, etc etc...

Sorry about the long introduction but I figured if there's one site I should write my life story on, this is it lol

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know some fellow aspies and seeing what this site has to offer, cheers!!

Good idea that you want to do psychology
I studied psychology and I'm now finishing my PhD in experimental psychology.
If I were to choose again I would choose psychology again
Anyway, I hope you will find a study and job you like.
