Hi, I am a 34 year old woman (though 'woman' still sounds too adult or something) living in Massachusetts. I have been diagnosed with a few things, Asperger's being one of them. I also have bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trichotillomania (hair pulling). I have hypothyroidism and mitral valve prolapse (floppy heart valve), which also seem to play into things. I think diagnoses are useful as tools to assist my doctors in treating me, and to assist me in what I should be looking out for in myself, but I don't like to define myself by them. I don't think, with symptoms of so many things, that I could actually have all of these things separately, really. I think I am one person with symptoms that fit into these buckets but that work with each other to form my own personal odd mind.

I was diagnosed in 2002 with Asperger's close to the same time that I was diagnosed with bipolar, but I was suffering greatly from bipolar symptoms and working to get stable, so I pushed the Asperger's diagnosis aside then. After four and a half years, I am finally on proper medication for bipolar symptoms and very stable, and now assessing myself and who I am. The bipolar mania symptoms sometimes covered up some of the Asperger's symptoms, but now that I don't have mania, the Asperger's stuff is coming out full force. I feel like I need to focus on this now.

I am also in the process of getting a divorce. I find myself very lonely and confused, and unsure how to make friends.

I look forward to reading more of this site and getting to know more about Asperger's and the people here.

I can relate, because I have also been diagnosed with Bi-Polar. The Aspie DX came later. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy posting here. :)

Welcome.

Thanks everyone.

Testosterone-challenged...possibly it's more like estrogen-challenged, as in: it's a challenge to live with this much estrogen at times.
