So, hi, hello, and all that. New guy here.
I'm the parent of two young kids, 6 and 2 -- the older is definitely on the autistic spectrum, the younger almost certainly is as well...we're still waiting on an eval for him.
Their mom and I are both NTish, and struggling more than a little right now. Our lives are more than a little crazy, and not in a good way, and the kids are dealing with the fallout of their mother's depression/hospitilization....as well as their father's general stress, sleep deprivation, and growing irritability.
While our youngest is generally a very happy child (apart from the obvious frustration of WANTING to communicate with us but not quite understanding *how*), our oldest is having a really rough time. He's become sullen, rude, defiant, and prone to throwing tantrums at the slightest provocation. And then deciding that, because of his behavior, we "don't want" him any more.
He's having, in short, a very rough time.
So I'm hoping to find a bit of help, a bit of support, and some new perspectives....
