Hey, I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with Asperger's this morning and I have been thinking, cause I know two other kids with Aspgerger's, obsession in a particular topic is a big symptom in Aspies but... what kind of obsessions do other Aspies have? Mine is Anime. I love it, I can't get enough of it. I know everything there is to know about Sailor Moon (The first anime I watched which developed my obsession) and I go out of my way to research facts and information about different anime series and movies I have watched. I can talk about anime for hours on end without needing a moment to consider the next fact I should reveal.

So, My question?

What's your obsession?

:)

welcome to WP, fellow newcomer. my obsessions are music (i play guitar religiously and have ever since i picked up the instrument, i also either drum on myself everywhere i go or hum/sing), famous people (i can tell you the name of just about every actor or actress you see on TV or in a movie, and many/all the movies they've been in, i also have an extensive knowledge of voice actors and very obscure actors whom nobody else takes the time to learn the names of), i also used to be obsessed with the civil war and the video game mortal kombat (i went as far as to read a 150 page long history of MK once), and probably other things that i'm overlooking at this point in time.

thanks for the welcome, guys :)

This is actually quite interesting because the usual types of obsession (that I am aware of) are stuff like trains and starwars. I guess they are kind of stereotype obsessions and everyone is unique in their own way.

Thanks for your answers ^.^

I have numerous interests, more or less respectable, related to history and historic preservation. The interest that is different, and should probably be called obsessional, relates to marginalized people: the homeless, shantytown dwellers, prisoners and prisoners of war. I don't know where this interest came from, I don't find it enjoyable and I certainly don't like where it may be taking me. But I'm stuck with it.

Why helo there. And let me tell you my case is quite special. You see my aspergian tendency has actually combined with another abnormality I have... Periodic random switches in interests to where I go to something new, obsess over it, learn all I can, then move on to another one. Periodically I'll go back to old ones. Man I couldn't even begin to list all the stuff I've obsessed about. Flying, jet fighters, history in general, video games, anime, individual sires, warhammer 40,000; guns (ohhh do I love guns), star wars, mmo's, oh man I could go on and on. It's been interesting to say the least and my friends have been very understanding with my many... MANY rants.
