Hi
As you probably already have guessed, I'm new here.
I don't have any diagnos yet but I'm going to start geting tested for ADHD and aspergers in october and I'm really really scared. I'm very sure that I have ADHD and have no problem with that diagnos but AS scares me really much. I have never thought I have it (didn't thought I could have ADHD until I started to read about ADHD and girls) and it has always freaked me a little, but just a couple of days ago I started to talk to a guy who have both ADHD and AS and he was very very much like me and I started to search info about ppl with both AS and ADHD and it frightenly much like me. So now I'm anxious, even more depressed, confused and scared.

Some positive stuff? I love Japan (well the culture mostly), reading, create things and being outside in the nature.

welcome! i'm extremely new here but i just want to tell you something: the diagnosis will not change who you have always been you know, there is no reason to freak out, the doctors are not going to "give you aspergers"if you 're not aspie, and if you are well.....you've always been! no reason to freak out over who you are :) for instance, if you love japan and it's related to aspergers, do you really think you're going to start thinking"oh nooo i love japan!"lol...the worst that could happen is that they could have ways to help you cope with whatever you have, use your judgement and decide for yourself up to what level you want to cope. like , from your point of vue: i want to be able to survive a job interview, but i don't want to be cured of my love for japan :) good luck and be strong !

Well I guess I'm freaked out by two reasons. One is that thoose few I know with aspergers is boring, extremely weird and egoistic, I know that not all with AS is that but that is what I conect it with. The second thing is that ppl here where I live have told me that if you have AS the psychiatry will make a schedul for you and you have to follow it and they can even come to you if they don't think you follow it 'cause that is what is best for you they say and I hate being controlled and I hate scheduels and when everything is the same all the time (and yeah my headproblems are of ADHD type). So that is what scares me.

welcome to wrongplanet, fellow newcomer. asperger's can be a scary thing for those of us who are new to the concept of being an "aspie", but hopefully joining this site was the first step towards you losing that fear and learning to accept who you are, and i'm sure the kind people here are more than willing to help you accomplish that, including myself =)
