Hey guys, :)
I was just wonderig how many people on here attend (or have attended) some form of cadet force or uniformed organization such as the ATC: http://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/ or Army cadets: http://www.armycadets.com/home/ or something else like this? And for those of you who aren't from the UK, do you have uniformed organizations like this and do you attend them?
I used to be an air cadet from the summer of 2008 to September this year and it was a really great experience for me, it helped me in so many ways including self-confidence and social skills so I would highly reccomend it, and plus there's some very cool activities I participated in like Flying and Gliding :)

Yes they knew I was an aspie, my mum made sure they did :) And I used to want to join the RAF a a nurse, but as it turns out you cannot join the RAF, Army or Navy in the UK if you have any form of Autism, Aspergers included, so now I have had to rethink my route and civilian nursing seems the most likely option now

yup, AAC CadetCorporal here. Section commander for the recruits

i did my snr NCO training too, but i flunked out when i got too nervous teaching my first aid lesson

Not for years obviously, im too old now

LOVED doing cadets, made me cry and sick to my stomach and had dreams about it for ages after I left

it was structured, people did things because they were told to, and if they didnt do it they didnt stay. Drill was too easy (rifle drill is awesome!) and i have awards on my shelf for dress and bearing, best recruit, best JNCO instructor, OC's encouragement and a few others

(Australian Army Cadets)

Yes, I was in ROTC in college and thought I looked sharp in the dress uniform, which fit me better than anything has before or since. I was also on the drill team and got to march in many famous parades. However, superficial things are all I miss about the experience. I was no military man. To start, my 7 1/2 pound rifle was too heavy for me and l was secretly out of breath all the time!
