Hi!

I am a 28 yo Dutchman, about to move to Scotland to undertake Ph.D. research (as well as hopefully scooping up an extra Master's degree from Glasgow U in the meantime, I`m a pretty hopeless diploma-geek). I have not been formally diagnosed with asperger, but pretty much fit the bill. A psychologist informally diagnosed me as having it. Only reason why I`m not officially diagnosing is because I`m paranoid about healthcare insurance. I can`t stand being touched, (at least not unexpectedly) and eye-contact is a serious no-no. Also, I`m very sensitive to touch, especially certain fibers I can`t stand.
Otherwise I seem to be fairly smart , if not even overly cerebral.
Ever since I gathered being asperger more issues in my life start making sense; I hope to learn more about the conditions and grow somewhat more comfortable with it in " real" life.

Jay

Welcome jayjayvp

Clearly you're not slowed down at all by a lack of a diagnosis.

I thought the UK had national healthcare ie insurance isn't completely necessary or maybe that's only for UK citizens :?

I cut all the tags out of my clothes because I can't stand how they feel.

In the netherlands healthcare is becoming privatized and they re flunking out everyone who's "blemished". You have to pay obscene rates if you ve a diagnosed condition; health care insurance companies work for profit, not for healthcare. (ok, rant over). Well I suppose I`m pretty sure what I got anyhow, I don`t see the need of getting a diagnosis, which is pretty difficult to get anyhow .. esp. considering the risks involved.

I`ll be researching how different theories of knowledge influence teacher training ; and especially how you can frame a theoretical model for 'reflective teaching'. My undergrad degree was in philosophy, my ph.d. will be in education and I hope to split part from my ph.d. research into a separate mini-dissertation and gain an MTh with that as well from another uni.
