Hi.

I'm a 55 year old male who never even heard of Asperger's before a couple of years ago. I haven't been diagnosed but the more I read about it the more I'm convinced that that's what I have.

At one time I actually wondered if I was autistic but I ruled it out because I didn't fit the stereotype - I didn't sit in the corner and rock and I wasn't oblivious to my surroundings. In fact, I think I'm more aware of my surroundings than most people.

There were other conditions I heard about that seemed to explain part of it - like OCD and social phobia - but Asperger's explains Everything.

I've often had a sense that I'm more aware of my surroundings as well. Can't really describe why I feel this way - just a sense. Probably has something to do with being extremely focused on something in particular, and not understanding how someone else can go about without being so focused.
