I like the very early stuff. I Saw Her Standing There and She Loves You still give me chills and transport me back to school dances in my junior high school cafetorium. The school was razed years ago but I'm still standing--and dancing.

I am going to say "Come Together". Although I have no idea what the song is about when listening to the lyrics? Any insight on that?

there's a good weird one.

"tomorrow never knows" is easily my favorite but there are tons of great ones.

"rain"
"a day in the life"
"come together"
"blackbird" ...

and that abbey road side B medley ("you never give me your money" / "sun king" / "mean mr. mustard" / "polythene pam" / "she came in through the bathroom window" / "golden slumbers" / "carry that weight" / "the end") completely blows my mind. if that could be considered one song, it would trump "tomorrow never knows" and maybe anything else i've ever heard.

their novelty numbers always put a smile on my face. they are the only major pop band in their era to release so many novelty numbers. but their thoughtful ruminations on unfairness and loneliness and perversity also made them head and shoulders above all the other bands. "eleanor rigby" and "a fool on the hill" are two songs that always make me stop and ponder. though i don't fully comprehend the ultimate subject of "fool on the hill," the imagery within resonates with me just the same.

come to think of it, i have not a clue as to the ultimate [author-intended] meaning of most of the beatles' output between '66 and '69.

I like "All the Lonely people" as Iam one of the lonely people they are singing about even though they dont know me, just as nobody came to Ella Marigby's funeral, (except maybe Father Mackenzie might have been there), Ive allways known nobody will come to mine, just like when I was Christened, there was just me, my mum, and the vicar.
