Hai, I'm new! Very interesting forums...shame it's not listed higher on google; it took me a while to find this decent aspie forum.

Anyway, about myself...I was diagnosed with Asperger's back in 1996. I'm 20, 5'6, hispanic. I'm pretty good at computer programming (know several programming languages very well), and would like that as my career.

I guess that's it. Give me a warm welcome, or I will...post...random obscenities! Ha!

Sure, it's warm enough...but will it hug me and kiss me goodnight?!?! I think not.

Oh, well anyway, I think I'll like it here...I've lurked around the forums for 30 minutes before registering, and there's a slight hint in the posts that most of you guys have superiority complexes over NT's, which I like, because I have one too. Hell, I also think that AS is the next step in human evolution, but don't pay much attention to me...I'm vaguely insane atop of my AS.

So hai to you too!

Be careful about advocating that. I personally don't feel that way, and there are plenty of others who don't, as well. I think most of us are just trying to see the positive side of the disorder, rather than being all depressive all the time.

Well, I'm not gonna rub it in anyone's face. Though there is a slight hint of it in the forums, I'm mostly mentioning it to describe myself better. I treat everyone with the same level of respect (in real life, at least...the Internet is a whole other beast), regardless of whether they're NT or Neptunian Warriors or whatever. Growing up I've always felt different yet superior to other people. I was bullied alot in school, and sometimes I felt depressed and worthless in a society dominated by people different from me, but I always knew/felt I was somehow "better." Reading around, I've noticed many others with AS feel similarly, so I guess it's just a side effect of being treated this way throughout life.

However, I know that while most NT's seem braindead to me, I've pretty much trained myself to give them a chance. Most of the times it ends in utter disappointment, but sometimes they end up being my close friends.

Welcome to the board :)

Listen to Civet's advice though- a lot of us don't believe we are better than NT's. In some of the posts we do generalise about NTs, but this is only based on our experiences with some NTs- I think few of us actually believe we are superior.

I also felt superior. It's not hard to imagine how it was adding to my popularity [sarcasm]. But since I have read about AS, I don't feel superior anymore. Just different. Different in another way than I assumed before.

Welcome to the board, Mantralord!

Welcome, I am new here too. This forum seems to have a nice active friendly bunch.

I am not sure if I have Asperger's, but I know I deffiently don't find myself thinking I am superior to others... In fact I probably have the opposite and underestimate myself all the time. Its not from being depressed or anything, I just like to be honest with myself and my abilities... and would rather error on the side of being humble then being arrogant.

I like to think there things I am better at then other people, and then a bunch of other things other people do better that me. Its just a diiferient allocation of brain resources... nothing that makes me better.

An excellent way of putting it :) I know there are some things I do very well (or at least I do when I'm not really down on my self) but I know that there are a lot of things that I'm not very good at.
