Glad to find this site. I'm 57 and have been thinking that my adhd diagnosis needs to be re-evaluated to aspie. Too many challenges in life typical to AS it seems to me. I'm feeling kind of blue these days since it's hard to hold on to work even tho my actual work is excellent. I've got a knack for connecting with little kids on the spectrum, and kind of making a bridge for them to connect with others in their lives. Families love me. Team members get annoyed - poor social skills etc on my part. I wonder if I had a diagnosis if it would be a good thing to disclose.

This is such a rich site with so much to check out!

Well as you can see I am a 61 year Aspie. About 6 months before my 60th birthday I was finally diagnosed.

I seem to have absolutely horrendous social skills. That statement is based on the number of telephone numbers on my phone - 3. One of those is my mother who I try I avoid speaking to since she really knows how to annoy me. Another one is because I like this woman, and just like having the number. The third is actually used.

This is a rather friendly website, I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we do. :)

Thank you for asking that question. What has changed is that I know that there is a reason for me feeling like I am really an alien. Also there are people out there who have some of the problems I have. In a way I feel proud that I am an Aspie even though I think of myself as being a rather unitelligent one.

I still have not figured out how to communicate to people. One of my biggest interests in life is playing the Sims 3. I have written messages on that website as well and never receive more than 5 replies. The same thing for this website. Yes, I am feeling sorry for myself. But I need to vent this since I am annoyed with the whole situation. I have mentioned this once before. It seems as though I need someone to let me know how to write a post that will solicit replies. My last one asked a question about empathy and autism/Asperger's. No one answered. :(

Was that second paragraph completely out of place? Hope it wasn't.
