I'd just like to say "Hi" to others out there who may be wired a bit like me. I found this site and it's nice to see so many others out there.

I've thought I might be an aspie ever since I first heard the term several years ago on a news program, and now that I've come across it again and the particular traits associated with it, I'm definitely in the club. I know there are varying degrees of asperger's, and I do not think I have one of the more intense versions. My father, on the other hand, is a poster boy; I don't think he's had a close friend (besides my mom) ever, he will focus on bizarre hobbies to extreme amounts, and in most social situations, even family trips to eat dinner, he'll just read a magazine by himself. Despite his eccentric behavior, he would be considered a genius by most people: for example, coming from a poor family and disadvantaged background, he got a 1600 on the SAT way before people studied for it and before the "recentering" of a few years back which inflated all new scores by 100-200 points.

For all my life I have generally put extreme focus on my various hobbies and pursuits. This has been harmless, such as with my baseball card collecting as a kid. It has been harmful, such as with my bad boy rock n roll pursuits as a teenager. And it has been beneficial, such as when I decided to focus on school and turning my life around and ended up graduating with honors from one of the nation's elite colleges.

I've always been content to be a loner, and I often feel awkward in social circumstances. Basically, as long as I have a girlfriend or even a close guy friend, my social needs are pretty much met. I'm sometimes ok in social situations, but my inner feeling is often that I'd rather be doing something else; my verbal ability is often clumsy, especially with the first words of a conversation; I often dread the first response I get of "what?"; this is all the more interesting since I won first place debate awards in college and my writing ability has always gotten me top marks.

I don't really recall social difficulties before puberty. I was always one of the best in sports at school and was one of the stars of my soccer team. I got enough satisfaction and acceptance from sports that I didn't worry too much about the non-sports situations. When I entered my teenage years and was no longer interested in sports things changed drastically.

I've had many people say that I seem really mellow and spaced out. In college this guy thought I was like an enlightened monk or something from my personality, he probably would have thought I was a drug burnout instead if he hadn't known my academic accomplishments. I may start off a novel social situation ok, but there have been times where at the end of the night I'm basically silent and uncomfortable; I don't know why this is, and I work hard to remain social, but I feel like I've kind of used up my social reserve for the night. As I've gotten older, I have come to learn that smiling and nodding can be quite effective :D .

Around the age of 18 or so I started reading about finances, investing, and the magic of compounded interest. I began to really be frugal and work on saving up money. I took lots of part time jobs throughout college, did some entrepreneurial stuff online, and did some smart investing; by the time I graduated, I had $20,000 saved up.

I then went travelling throughout Asia to explore the world, but I always had the idea of starting a business on my mind. I set up a business about 3 years ago and it's been more successful than I had imagined and the future really feels limitless; I'm young, my income is 6 figures, I have 6 figures in the bank, and I have plenty of new business ideas. It's amazing how many businesses one can run sitting behind one's laptop with little people contact required besides emails and an assistant or two.

Well, that's the aspie me in a nutshell. Hi!

Welcome to the group. It's great to be successful so early in life. What kind of businesses do you run?
