Hi everybody--
This has been quite an interesting few days.....
Asperger's wasn't really on my radar at all, except that I have a funny, highly intelligent teenage nephew who has it. As far as I knew, I was nothing like him (except for the funny, highly intelligent part!).
Then I came across something online the other day, about face-blindness. I kept reading because that's something that has plagued me my whole life. I often don't recognize people, even if I've met them several times, had long conversations with them, or in some cases, worked with them for several months. Clicked on a few links, and found myself reading a list of traits shared by females with Asperger's. Holy crap! I had almost all of them! Well, now this would certainly explain a lot.
I took a couple online tests. Scored 33 on the AQ thingie, and 122 out of 200 on another Aspie test. I laughed out loud on some of the questions, they were so me. My results were, You are most likely an Aspie. So here I am.
Just a little about me: I'm a 47-year-old mom of three grown kids and one little one. My second son has ADD, anxiety disorder, and some mild tics. As far as I know, the others are NT. I divorced my first husband, and I just lost my second husband very unexpectedly two months ago, of a sudden cardiac arrest while we were watching TV together. This has been a devastating loss that is just starting to really sink in. He was one of the few people on the planet (other than my kids) who really "got" me. We had our issues, but for the most part we were happy. I miss him terribly.
Guess that's it for now. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.
Denise
