The abuse was not your fault. It is always the fault of the abuser and not the fault of the victim. Your Mum made a good choice for the both of you. It has nothing to do with your condition, if you had no condition he would have found some other reason to hurt you.

Both you and your Mother are much better off now away from him. I understand the feelings of guilt because they are common with victims of abuse but you have nothing to be guilty about. He was the bad guy, remember that.

I wish my Mother had been as loving towards me as yours was to you, I had to endure an abusive stepfather until old enough to join the Navy.
Dont reward the good act she did by feeling guilty about it, reward her sacrifice by showing you are better off for it.

Do you have hobbies or special interests?
I was allways into old Motorbikes so have made lifetime friends through a mutual passion, gives you something to talk about with them and things to do that doesnt involve being good at being sociable.

You seem so sad I want to adopt you and bring you to my house! Unfortunately that would be unpractical and I don't know you very well. I lived in a house with an abusive parent and understand how horrible it can be.

Being alone sucks, but if you want to have friends having a hobby or social group helps! I found joining a club (like a bridge club) or sport's team helps. You might also want to see if you can meet people with Autism or Asperger's in your local area. Either way, don't let your differences stop you from trying! If you fail you will learn and be better in the future.

I hope my message gives you some ideas!

I don't know exactly how you feel, but I was sexually abused and definitely scarred by it. So I know how it feels to have my trust betrayed. I would follow the advice on here, don't see this as your fault. Instead see this as an opportunity to flourish and be who you need to be. I tend to keep to myself most of the time as well. I got a dog which really helps me because I get lonely too.

I understand that you feel bad for your mother. But it is not your fault that she made a poor choice in a husband. It is easy to live your life for others by vicariously feeling depression for them. I have done it for all of my family members and it's not a fun way to live. I used to think that empathy was doing exactly that.

There is a line between being empathetic and blaming yourself for everything that happens to other people. Don't let that keep falling on your shoulders. You deserve to have a good life just like everyone else on this planet. If you still find that you're having trouble, go to a therapist. You sound like you need some reassurance that this, in fact, is not your fault.
