Hello. My name is Natalie and I'm 23 years old. I'm kind of new to this and have never been good at introductions. I have not been diagnosed with any form of Autism because when I became old enough to recognize I MIGHT have it, I was told that there is no real testing for adults. Instead I'm being treated for psychological problems and have been for awhile.

In reading the posts, I feel like I've finally found a place I can be myself without being considered "weird".

I'm not really sure what to say, but feel free to ask me questions.

Welcome!

You have been given bad information as there certainly is testing available for adults - though if you know you have AS and you accept that you have AS it becomes a debatable point as to whether the actual diagnosis will provide anything new or helpful. I hope you find some of what you are looking for here :)

Thank you. :]

I suppose I strongly believe I have it, and don't want to feel like I'm self-diagnosing myself because people don't tend to take you as seriously, unfortunately. However, I also don't know for sure if I do have it and don't want to presume.

Regardless, thank you for welcoming me.

You will find a little of that here, but the majority of people will not hold this against you. Who would pretend to have this who did not? :)

Welcome to Wrong Planet! Have a good stay, enjoy some whiskey, get drunk and blabber about your life, and step outta the way for the next one!

There is definitely testing for adults -- But would getting an official diagnosis help you in your career, or impede you? Pros and cons.
