Hi everyone,

I am glad to have found this forum. I am a 33 year old dude who is the father of a 7 year old boy who has been diagnosed with ASD/Asperger's. I have not been officially diagnosed myself, but A)I have taken one of those online tests and I was borderline and B) my therapist said that I probably could find someone to give me the label, but it would be pointless; either way, I know I have to work on social skills.

My ex (the mother of my son) is convinced I have ASD as well because A) I suck at making small talk and talking to girls B) I have a really narrow range of nerdy interests --skateboarding and music, and memorizing the minutae of both C) I "zone out" sometimes D) I am just not as interested in hooking up with girls as other dudes, like playing the whole game and all that stuff, hooking up with _any_ girl... it seems like a waste of time...

My son is super into the Titanic and has highly advanced art and reading comprehension skills, but he doesn't have any friends, really. I guess we are both working on some of the same things...
