Hello

I'm 32 years old living the UK & just been just been diagnosed with having AS, I also have dyslexic
in which I was diagnosed with when I was 19.

Last summer I had a mental health crise (I also have clinical depression), I taken an over dose due to
the stress of harassment I been receiving in my neighbourhood & problems with my family who live close by
(I live on my own as my mother kicked me out of her home 13 years ago due to not being able to cope with my behaviour at the time). The crise psychiatrist I seen in my home suggested that I get tested for AS & Schizophrenia. There was a long wait for the finding of my AS tests (I only got them a month ago).

Now that I have a diagnose I'm confused about AS (I been thought a range of emotions & now accept that I'm an Aspie). My family have one moment been ok with this & then next angst the idea that I have AS. My mother is the wearst for this as she tried to get an ASD diagnose for when I was 2 years old with no success. Also my key worker from the AS unit in area hasn't fully answered the questions I got (like what help can I get, whats the plan & explane about AS) at the mo she given me a DVD when I asked her questions & told me that she take care of arranging a meeting with a housing officer about my housing issues. plus to cap things off my support worker (I been having support re my housings issues since 2003) phoned me two weeks ago to tell me that now I getting help the AS team in city that her help with stop in a months time. Oh great :?

One Confused Aspie

Hauge my key worker in the AS team is the nurse who diagnosed me. She first came on the scene back Aug.
Both my mum & me had a had few communication issues with her has she does not replay to emails & takes her time
getting in touch. I was very close in making a complant about the time delay in my diagnose.

The last time I was contact with her was last week cos I was worried about the support from my support worker plus my mum been making negative comments about me being an aspie the last few weeks (esp. at my last pyschiatrist appointment I had two weeks ago in which she was asked to come to). I got a contact phone for the housing officer so what I might do is some time next week is to phone her to double check that my key worker been in touch with her.

mmm being content I feel that can be a rhetorical question.
being content in the knowledge that I have my specialist interests.

Therese times I feel its a blessing that helps others & myself, at other times I feel its a curse.
Am also discontented in the fact that I always feel I hardy have eught knowledge & always take steps
to improve my learning. Content with what have mmm yes and no, am thankful for what I got in life right now,
tho theres alot things that need changing/improving.

Meltdowns & shutdowns new terms to me I had to look them up. (I wish my health pros. would education me about AS)

Meltdowns: I had alots of them esp when I younger. The worst one involved a kitchen knife & the reason why I live my own.
well the last few years there been less bad as I been using relaxation techniques to help.

Shutdown: I do get them tho I noticed I been getting more of them of the last years.

Friends: mmm short answer very few plus right now there been probs in all areas relationship wise (friends, famliy, love, etc.)

Lol the pubs are ok in Chester, a few quite ones with a good range of real ale.
Theres a 1940s recreation pub close to the wall.

Liverpool's & Manchester's Chinatowns are the best places for chinese food in the North West of England.
