Hello
My name is Sarah, I'm from England and have a 16 year old son with aspergers syndrome.

My son is leaving mainstream school this year and I am hoping that college will be a better experience for him than school has been. I am wondering how he will cope with the social apsect of college as at the moment he is mainly in the house on the pc or xbox talking to people online but I suppose only time will tell.

Looking at my sons behaviour over the past few years since his diagnosis at 9 I am now convinced that I am also on the spectrum too as I had very similar experiences of school and people and I have had many farily 'geeky' obsessions in my time.

I am also going to encourage my son to join, maybe talking to other people with similar experiences will be helpful for him.

Anyway I am looking foward to reading the discusion topics! :D
cheers

Welcome aboard, and the best of luck to you both.

One of the good things about the modern world is how much communication can be done without exposure to the terrible embarassments of face time.

My 15 year old son also has apergers syndrom. He was diagnosed when he was 8. I too am hoping to sign him up soon so he can communicate with other kids on the spectrum. He is also interrested, very much so, with computers and video games. Hoping to learn more from this website!

Welcome to Wrong Planet!

It depends if the college have an understanding of Aspergers, I went to college for 2 years and I basically felt that I made no friend's there...but the college I went to was not that great (being local), although your son maybe able to get support if he feels he hasn't made friend's yet.
