Hello everybody. I guess I should start off by saying that I am probably not an aspie, though I think I can relate pretty well to the users here (I was a lurker for a few weeks before joining). I suppose I'm hear because I got tired of imagining myself making posts here :P.

I am rather socially awkward and can be pretty anxious about it at times, I have been told that I constantly look emotionless, have a very formal way of speaking, can be blunt to a fault, and have extremely sensitive skin (I break out into hives if I'm in the sun too long but I have never heard of anybody with AS having that sort of thing before).

I don't have a strong need to stick to routine, even though I find it preferable. I have very little problems with eye contact, don't have any stims that I'm aware of, and don't really have any one all consuming area of interest, but I make it a point to become very familiar with anything which interests me. I don't recall having any problems with playing with other kids when I was little, nor did i develop my skin issues until I was about 14.

I think of myself as being very empathetic (understanding) but not sympathetic (feeling for others). I can be very emotional at times, but I don't think anybody else, including my family, realizes that. Anyway, I'm not really sure how much I will really contribute here, but greetings to you all! :D

Hi and welcome! :D

I'm sure you'll find lots to talk about here. As far as Asperger's goes, there's an informal test on-line that I like - it gives a pie-chart that's kinda neat - you might have some fun with it -

We've got so many forums and interests. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself at WrongPlanet.

Your Aspie score: 120
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 98
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

Hmm. Well I've also shown traits of schizoid personality disorder, borderline personality disorder (I know they're practically opposites but still), I sometimes think I might be a narcissist or a sociopath :(, and I know I've been at least mildly depressed for about as long as I can remember. I don't have any diagnosis for anything though.

Narcissist wouldn't admit to the possibility of anything being wrong with him.

Sociopath wouldn't be sad about being so, not having any remorse, only worried about his "enemies" using it against him if they found out.

Schizoid doesn't fit either, since as you said you're "very emotional at times".

Not sure about borderline, not enough information.

You forgot "social anxiety" which due to lack of practice, can result in poor social skills. It wouldn't rule out underlying conditions, but it's quite common... and treatable with therapy.

Also plain old depression is something to look at, and treatable.
