Hey all, I've been browsing these forums for a while, trying to figure out if I have Asperger's, so I decided to finally make a post. I'm a 20 year old undergraduate student in the US studying psychology. The possibility of me having Asperger's was brought about by a counselor I see at my school. I had been seeing her mainly because of social anxiety but a few months ago she asked me if I had ever considered the possibility that I might have Asperger's. Since then, I've been doing a lot of my own research and it seems likely that I do have Asperger's. I'm not going to explain all of my symptoms in detail because I don't want this to turn in to a wall of text, but basically, social interactions don't feel like they come naturally to me, I am more sensitive than most people to many things, and I have a few odd obsessions. At this point I'd like to see a professional who could determine whether or not I have Asperger's, but I've read posts on here that say an official diagnosis can cause you to be denied health insurance in the US. I want to know if I have it or not mainly for peace of mind; I'm not looking for special accommodations or anything like that because I don't think it significantly impairs me in any way. I'm hoping I can find a way to figure out if I have it without having it going on any official record if it is determined that I do have it.
