Hey everybody!
I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 7. Whenever I tell people I have it they are usually very surprised. I also took an online Emotional Quotient Test, designed to measure how emotionally intelligent a person is and got a 127, which is a good deal better than average. Excuse my bluntness, but aren't people with aspergers supposed to perform worse than average when it comes to identifying emotions? Is it possible I have outgrown aspergers or been misdiagnosed?

Yes it could be that you have outgrown that part of it.
Also keep in mind that not every person is going to have the same characteristics as everyone else. It could be that you were diagnosed correctly but have always had a higher emotional intelligence as compared to other people. Different levels of characteristics for different people. Hmmmm, reminds me of Different Strokes for some odd reason -" what you talkin' bout Willis?"

Oh and welcome :)

The real test, now that you are at the prime dating age--how are you at picking up clues from potential significant others? Do you have any issues dating and having relationships? If you do this with ease, I'd say there is quite the possibility you were misdiagnosed. Emotionally connecting with significant others is extremely difficult for most Aspies.

I have an Aspie family member who was off the charts on this, too. He could do it on paper, but had trouble applying it to real life, especially in a stressful environment.

I'm not saying you weren't misdiagnosed though. Only you can gauge that.

BTDT, good question. I wouldn't say I do it with ease. I get extreme approach anxiety, but once I get to know girls I can read them pretty well. Quirky, I definitely don't perform very well in a stressful environment, and large groups of people stress me out

You may have some sort of anxiety disorder. Sometimes these can be treated with medication--so another professional evaluation may be worthwhile.
